2022 Wests Tigers Indigenous Jersey..

Are you saying that the artist should spend all her time and resources in designing these jerseys without pay?
If anything, as it's been pointed out by several forum members, the only misappropriation is from the sponsor.
The jerseys costs needs to be recovered by the club so their sale is understandable.
No mate, he is responding to the absurd assertion that white people should not buy and wear the indigenous jersey due to misplaced guilt over cultural appropriation. It is ridiculous bullshit that we are rightly mocking.

As I said before, Aboriginal people love to see their art on display.
Look at how Daine Laurie is beeming wearing that strip.
I love the concept, shows their involvment in the game. Their numbers are increasing as we get behind indigenous pathways. 👍

Nah mate, I'm saying quite the opposite.

Artists are engaged to do authentic indigenous artwork and showcase a piece of their culture on our jersey, in a round where we celebrate the indigenous contribution to our game. For a very small proportion of the population (2% I think?) they are well overrepresented in our game.

I have two of our indigenous jerseys and I wear them a bit. I like the indigenous round to see how the clubs have worked artwork into their colours.

The indigenous lads would get a kick out of this round as well, a lot of them are extremely connected to their roots still.

Genuinely asking… It’s not my culture. - I don’t know anything about it. But yes again, in those circumstances, you just mentioned it can, not always, come across as tasteless until it moves into “comfortable” society. If i see a white woman wearing dashikis (cornrows) or Americans wearing turbans. It can come across as tasteless. I’m sure most aren’t trying to be malicious, but symbols can have pretty powerful meaning in some cultures whilst I’m sure the NRL worked with communities and the artists to ensure nothing sacred is mass produced I was just asking how anybody with that culture here felt about it when they saw others wearing it.

Wasnt Kim Kardashian absolutely blasted when she wore cornrows?
Yeah too right mate, I even saw a black guy wearing a suit and tie the other day, this cultural appropriation has to stop.

A bit of trivia that I only found out a couple of years ago.
Did you know that the word Cooee is actually a widely used Aboriginal word that is often unknowingly used by non Indigenous people.
I always thought it was a white fellas word used in the outback.
Luckily white fellas have been using the word correctly as the word means ‘come here’ in the "Dharug" language from the South Western areas of Sydney.
Cool hey.

Stay in your safe space out there in the mountains don't worry about what's going on out here Guvna I swear to god 😆 @hobbo1
