Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Blore is great on defence. Bad at running lines but hey, defence is way more important in that position.
While I agree, Blore is a better player than Kelma, for the longest time I have asserted that the top teams dont attack via their props, they attack via their second rowers. 80 mins of Blore wont lift a trophy.

It was to our detriment in the Farah years, that as good as he was, he played entirely too skinny, too many props running per set. The big teams, played props until fast PTB, then widened their attack.

Healthy this year, Blore, Kelma and Luciano would have been our best second row since Dwyer and Ellis... not all backrowers can be 80 min players. We dont have the results to buy superstuds (Lord knows how we snagged Papalii) offering a trophy, though we can recognise that there are plenty of 60min backrowers of quality and carry one on the bench to offset their stamina, also providing alternate angles as the game progresses.

There are options. The interesting part is Sheens experimental philosophy meshing with Madge's rigid formula. Meeting in the middle may see us have more progress.

Hass is a generational talent and would be very pleased if we get him don’t get me wrong

However, Hass seems to want around 1.1-1.2 million a season

Lodge got paid out for 700k this year and next, we could easily get him on for a contract on around 450-500k due to this

Both Lodge (475k) and Crithcon (725k) will cost the same and would much improve our squad imo

Let the Dolphins over pay
I like your idea. Let's hope the Wests tigers management is on the same idea.

The way I see it Haas will go one of three ways

He will sign with us

He will sign with Roosters which opens Crichton to come to us

He signs a marquee deal with Redcliffe (most likely giving the messaging coming out) but with this option he could play for a team the rest of this season which could be us as it would only be around 500k.

Reckon you've got it right with the second one.

Is it possible? The club has enough $ to invest and make it possible.

Is it possible - Nope.
We would get outbid or a better team would come close to what we could offer even if we offered him 1Mil. I also would be very very nervous about putting 10% of our cap into a Prop.

Musgrove isn't on chump change, we have Stefano upgraded as well.
That's a huge amount invested in the Prop rotation.

Would absolutely love him here but just can't see it happening.

I would offer him close to the 1mil if that’s what he wants. He imo will take us into the finals. he Will make a difference on and off the field. He will potentially attract others to the club. No current wt player is going to have an issue, as no other player in our team is at his level. If I was a current wt squad member I would want him in my team. He will lift our results and subsequently every player in our roster will ultimately benefit if he comes.

An off-field incident as well as a serious concussion has kept Wests Tigers winger David Nofoaluma away from the field in recent weeks.

Confidential has learned that Nofoaluma has been the subject of an internal disciplinary sanction in recent weeks which has resulted in him being overlooked for a first grade starting spot.

Club sources were tight-lipped on the nature of the indiscretion, but it is understood it has been frowned upon by his fellow players, in particular the senior leadership group.

The incident has been described as a “minor slip in standards” but was enough for his teammates to look down upon the winger’s actions, leading to the sanction.

Nofoaluma continues to be troubled by headaches, according to sources at the club, although he has been named on an extended bench for Saturday’s game against South Sydney at Accor Stadium.

The 28-year-old has not played since round eight and was spotted leaving the Tigers clash against Canterbury at half-time as he dealt with ongoing headaches.

He is among the richest wingers in the game with his salary nearing $500,000.

It is the second time Nofoaluma has been in the spotlight over his off-field behaviour. Last year, he was stood down from the club’s senior leadership group after turning up to training under the weather following the wedding of chair Lee Hagipantelis’ daughter.

Re Payne Hass:
It's possible!
Joe O is a connection. I am guessing the Broncos had offered him 800K or something.

Honestly 1m Payne Haas, where do we sign. Why?
Unlike TPJ David Fifita etc, Haas has been a consistent hard performer.

Likely? no
I suspect that Easts, Cronulla, Dolphins or another team will get that 1m offer. Easts unloading Crichton is one reason why (that's how they roll, 5 good players and minimum contracts).
I think forwards choose teams that they respect and hit hard. No one wants to be wipped. That's why Luke Lewis signed with Cronulla, who wants to be hit by Gallen!

We don't have the respect but maybe Maybe we up the Cash and we do have Joe O and Stef.

Musgrove not being on Chump change is another reason why we would get beaten.

Hmmm @AnonTiger was right hmmm

no to Hass , I don’t think he is worth probably for us to get him
4 years and 1.3 mill , nahhh nobody is worth that risk , he could go down 2 games in and not play the rest of a season , nup no way , 4 years at $ 850 yes no more
