It's pretty simple. Players can get out of contracts but they must get the exact same amount or less than the deal they left on. So players won't leave for money. Also add that if a player breaks the contract the manager doesn't get a cent until that contract has finished.

There's a bit more to it in this case. Haas is currently in legal dispute trying to get out of being signed by his previous manager. His previous manager stiffed him on his current deal to make a quick buck and some backhanded deals with the Broncos which were not in Haas' best interest. Hence he's been playing well below his market rate for his whole contract.
 
Official cap 2022 is $9.4 mill for top 30 players so ave pay $310k per player
Its supposed to be same for all clubs but the clubs with the most marque players seems to be the highest bidder when a new high profile player on market ? Third Party deals ? not sure how this part works

Most of us fans know we are no chance for Haas but maybe hoping he goes to Roosters and we get Angus. You never know if you don't try
 
Doesn’t look like the Broncos will give him his release. It’s one thing to release a player on compassionate grounds, like if they want to move back home, but you don’t cave if a player is money hungry. I hope they make him honour the last 2 years of his contract.

I remember when we said Ivan was going to be chained to Pascoes leg and beaten harshly everytime he whimpered about his locker licking kid and the loneliness he must be feeling on $1m a season.

3 days later the most despised coach in the nrl was texting us goodbye.

I reckon the cop mounting Haas is on his way.

Maybe the dogs can pay him a fortune and turn him from marquee into factory?

It’s a Muppet factory at the moment.

I reckon we should throw $350k at him, publicise it and meddle with the market. Tell him it’s not in his control.

$1.3? Ffs that’s rude.

You can’t compare us to well run clubs. We let everyone walk all over us. Melbourne dug their heels in when JAC wanted a release. The good clubs handle these things better than we do
