Michael Maguire leaves club

Madge is gone. It’s a results driven business and he’s had a good run. I said it before he was our Dean Pay. Flanagan would be odds on. Shifty Sheens knows it’s the right time. Mid season bye and squad is probably as healthy as it can be. See what a new coach does before culling players.

It’s the right thing to do in my view and I’m a Madge fan he won’t be here next year after another season at the rear end of the field.

Respect your opinion but I didn't see Madge missing tackles, no/low effort plays, and giving 7 tackle re-sets. A number of players yesterday need to have a hard look at themselves and the guys that did put in need to hold them to account.
Agree the side played well the first 40 minutes then everything went south they had the plan to win but the execution by some wasn't upto standard and that includes the officiating

So we change the coach once again in hope he can turn a squad of plodders into a champion team. For the first time in years we have two very good recruits coming for next year, we have a pathway system up and running. I can understand people frustration, but where is this coach who is going to make a difference.

I would run with Madge till at least mid year 2023. Of course if it gets really ugly over the next few months I might need a rethink
Which young players has Madge developed in the 4 years he has been here? Have seen a few with potential, but can't think of any that have taken the next step under him

I agree. Now is not the time to remove him.
If they start giving up regularly with the majority of the first choice boys on the field, then he has to go.

I’m a Madge supporter and love his passion and commitment to the club. My favourite coach since sheens. However writing is on the wall. He just isn’t the best out of the players and they aren’t responding to him. We will have some wins and some good moments but I just don’t think his style or game plan is working.
I think bar two games this season he has been getting the best out of the players. Newie and last night we’re bad but all others (with a lot of key troops missing) have been really good in effort areas. I’m so up in the air but he has had plenty of time.

I remember that same argument being made when the club sacked Sheens.

We can definitely get worse. We can be where the dogs are now and wait another 4 years until the next coach gets the squad he wants.
Looking at our young fellas coming through, that could well be the case if not managed correctly.

Madge is adamant, came out and said Tigers are going to make the finals this year...
Maybe someone should check him for a brain injury while they conduct the review.
Got any evidence of that claim? I don’t think he’s ever said they “will make the finals” any year. In fact, I don’t think any coach anywhere has said that, all it does it put immense pressure on yourself.

and Cronulla.
Three games they haven’t had a go. That’s a big improvement as that’s how many games they usually do have a go in.

Massive article, so won't post it all. This was at the end of Rothfield write-up.

Sheens insists the club has yet to look at other coaching options despite a rumour over the weekend that former Origin and Test halfback Brett Kimmorley would step in as a caretaker.

“We haven’t even gone there,” Sheens said.

“I’ll be making a recommendation to the board but it’s their decision.

“I don’t want to be the focus just to be the coach.

“I’ve been here six months and I’ve got more of a grip about what’s going on.

“We have to look at everything and then make some decisions.”
The longer Sheens holds on making decisions the more likely we don't get anymore new quality players until no earlier than 2024.

[This word has been automatically removed] him mate.
He's had 4 years. No one's listening to him, maybe the listening comes after the growing?

Is noddy still in our system?
Seems to know what end of the footy is the pointy end
