seriously what the [This word has been automatically removed] is this club? how the [This word has been automatically removed] are people on the board openly allowed to just go out to the public & say this kind of shit? does this guy even realise what's going on? if you are having to do internal reviews every 3 years do you ever stop & think that YOU & YOUR STUPID BOARD ARE THE [This word has been automatically removed]ING PROBLEM seriously can they just do us a favour & fold because I am sick of all this bullshit happening every 3 years, for once in 11 years I had finally started to gain a little hope with the direction that the club was heading in under madge but the club & sheens which I am surprised with clearly have it in for the bloke & are not gonna let him do his job... sorry for the rant just completely fed up with this BS

Just putting this here so we can cross his name off (ciraldo) if Madge is sacked. Via DT

The Bulldogs’ hunt for a new head coach is about to cop a huge setback, with highly rated Penrith assistant Cameron Ciraldo ready to start negotiations for a contract extension with the premiers this week.

It comes as Canterbury’s interim coach Mick Potter also distanced himself from entering the race to replace Trent Barrett in the countdown to Friday night’s clash against the Panthers, with Potter adamant: “I haven’t put my hand up for the job”.

Sources are also convinced Shane Flanagan is no chance of getting the gig while Canterbury general manager of football Phil Gould remains at the club.

Totally agree, no wonder the Wests Tigers are the laughing stock of the NRL and have been for a long time, no clue. But lets get rid of the coach that will change everything and turn us into a force.

So first we can't sign players with Maguire now we can't retain signed players because of Maguire.
Even if you had Bellamy, Bennett and Gould here we wouldn't be able to sign and retain players. Imagine the lure of playing with Brooks and Nofo and then having a great pack of Tamou, Garner, Liddle. How could you say no.

Reactions: BZN
Step one: Tigers sack Madge (Because he can't coach)
Step two: Bulldogs win wooden Spoon and recruit Madge
Step three: Madge takes Wooden Spooners to top 8 in his first year.
Step four: Madge wins coach of the year
Step five: Tigers win Wooden Spoon - With some nufty coach who comes in a tells us we're 4 years away from being competetive.
Step six: All off contract 'stars' leave club.

See you wall back here in 18 months.

When he's finally had money to spend,
Madge has recruited the Best Back rower in the Game, And the incumbent NSW Origin hooker....
(Both played under him previously)
How many does he have to get for you to acknowledge it?

Not every player is available to every club - despite what you think.
Two very good buys, no doubt.
But whilst we've had some bad contracts on the books, we've still had money to spend for some time. We were throwing ~$1m pa at Latrell two and a half years ago.
We've had the capacity for big names and quality players for a while now - and haven't been able to capitalise (until 2023 that is).

Obviously impossible to say why that is without being party to all the exit interviews, and we have already made a big change in that space with Hartigan moving on and Sheens/Warren Mac coming back.

The recruitment issues are only exacerbated by our lack of internal development. It's been close to 10 years since we've brought through a genuine quality FGer from within, which is ridiculous.

Again - Gus has said a number of times "It's a job for an older experienced coach"
Said it until his lips turn from blue back to a normal colour....

He's not even thinking of a Ciraldo type...

It's a good point. These are areas in which we need to succeed if we're going to break the cycle. I like that we've started investing in youngsters (Stefano, Laurie et al), but we haven't really seen any of these guys progress to quality FGers as of yet. Yes it's early days for them, but I suspect the plan would have been to see more from them by now.
If we can't sign stars then we need to make our own.

That of all things is my biggest concern & why I think Madge time is up.

You sack Madge, you lose the dressing room and Hastings will be in serious doubt of resigning. It is literally so simple to understand.

All the assets we've gained will most likely be poached and we'll be back at square one within 2 years with no direction, AGAIN.

Madge has finally built a side that should definitely be fighting for the bottom half of the 8 on paper next season. Let him work with them and if it doesn't work out, then the bells are ringing.

Media beats up on that due to the 'Riff connection

I think you'll find that was back when we thought we're just one or 2 away, Before we realised - what we were doing wrong, And how to fix it.

Would also argue the point, That we didn't in fact have that money for Latrell... We were trying to land him (No matter what) And then going to make the money work somehow by offloading a heap of others...

There's no chance in hell we had 1.1m for Latrell, When we had Mbye on 900k, Packer on 800k, Reynolds on 700+k, Doueihi on 600+ and Brooks on anywhere from 750-8 mill (You pick)

We just didn't have it - We're trying to appease the media and land a big fish (Just cos they say we couldn't) and hope that would fix all our problems....

Like we've been doing every other year since 2012

Bulldogs won't win the spoon next year regardless of who is the coach

I would dream of us being competitive in 1-2yrs with Madge or without him, can't see regardless of who is coach unless something changes on the recruitment front - we are years off that's a reality.

Papa & Api will currently have less support around them next year than what is on offer today.

Anyone that thought we were one or two away in 2019/20 is/was a very, very poor judge and shouldn't be employed by a professional sporting organisation.

As for the money, we signed Doueihi and BJ Leilua after missing out on LM, so there was clearly cash to be spent.

There's no chance in hell we had 1.1m for Latrell,

Maybe we did. Maybe Latrell was worth going all in on. The problem is he wanted to play for Souths with his mate Cody. It was like an Indigenous clique.

I think Souths lost Adam Reynolds because of this as well. Souths had to make a choice in relation to where they were going to spend their cap.

That's wrong
- Api get's it to forwards and halves, Most of them are still here
- Paps is back row, Spine still here - Stronger with the injection of Api....

Whilst losing a few players in the same position, only one of them is first choice
- Even then, He's not in the best 12 Back rowers in the comp atm... If the top 20.

Question

Why did sheens announce he is doing a review?

Good question. Was this always the case ? Was this what he was employed to do ? Is this a regular report to the board ?

There was a comment in relation to these reviews happening all the time in the business world. It's sort of true but not an ad-hoc review. You'd think someone would have to ask for an ad-hoc review.
