Wests Tigers Coaches

Kimmorely seemed keen on being given the opportunity.. to me it wasn't just as caretaker coach...

How, Why - From where....
He's not been a coach of any merit at any time...

What was he doing before we put him in pathways?
Last I saw he was commentating sideline for reserve grade!!

Have only heard good things about Josh Hannay, has a connection to Maroons origin team as well. Did a good job as a caretaker coach at Sharks last year, did some caretaking of Cowboys before Payten. Same with Ciraldo, idk how much head coaching role they've actually done. I think Ciraldo did 2 years of u20s coaching at Penrith and that's about it.

Paul Green I've admired for a while as well. I like his style.

Kimmorley looked too excited, looked a bit immature.. I think he's had 2 years out of coaching prior to this.

Flanagan, I think he needs to go England.

Strange, if we were going to punt on a halfback.

I would punt on Cooper Cronk > Brett Kimmorley.
Yet this is just so telling of our history. Jason Taylor restructured a lot at the club, Kimmorley left in his cleanout. Why?
Why was Kimmorley dialed in?

Clearly there was more to the history with Kimmorley and Taylor. Was Taylor intimidated by Kimmorley? We see Flanagan act that way now!

Kimmorley impressed people here. He must have really left an impression to be dialed back in. Honestly I hope a deal has been struck for Kimmorley to go second fiddle 2023.

Cameron Ciraldo is clearly the desired Favourite. He also coaches defense which is exactly what we need.
John Morris, Josh Hannay would be good choices and it will be Morris who wins out there because of his club history.
100% no to Nathan Brown.

Noddy is clearly an Interim coach and clearly signed up as such.

My far out ideas:
Laurie Daily. He has enormous respect and would be able to unite the tigers under a strong culture.
Yet I am drawn to one name. A name we should go all out for
Cooper Cronk.

Something Bellamy said that really stuck with me. Cooper would ask questions. Every training, every session "coach why do we lean this way, Coach why do we step off the ruck like this, etc" Bellamy then would go "why do we do this?". Cronk gets the 1% ers. He gets the 0.1%. Imagine when we sign talent having someone like Cronk go "hey the way you lean here, that's why your passing isn't that good" or "Hey you are tackling mid height, tackle higher and you won't get as many missed tackles". His brain, if it works in coaching will be diabolical at coaching.

Cronk gets it. He is the one player I have seen coach a team on the field without playing and be that valuable that he was wanted on a Finals game when he couldn't touch the ball!

Coach, assistant coach. Whatever it takes we should go for Cooper Cronk.

As if cronk would come here 😂
He’s already got a cushy job

You need someone with head coaching experience, even at lower grades.

Especially after Barrett, I'd be very reluctant on taking a punt on an assistant coach.

Fitzy coaches the junior grades at Roosters for a while I think too. Freddy has been coaching the current squad since they were U16s.

Ciraldo coaches Penrith u20s about 4 years ago, been a while.

I’m pretty disappointed in the club to be honest and genuinely feel for Madge. He may not have been perfect but his passion and determination to turn this place around is to be admired. He never gave up even when the players did. I think we were slowly starting to see some progress as a team, not necessarily as individuals. Apart from the second half against Souths we were turning up and having a dig and we were seeing improvements in players. Thanks for your efforts Madge.

Moving forward, Ciraldo seems to be the majority pick for who we’re after. Knows the Penrith system, has good relationships with players from all accounts, but so did Barrett and never been a full time first grade coach.

Payten in my opinion, is the next “Supercoach”. Smart, tactical and hates losing. Under contract and seems to love living in NQ, but has history with us and stranger things have happened.

Woolf - Tongan coach and done some good work in ESL. Wouldn’t be my pick.

Morris - I think he’s too inexperienced and we wouldn’t see much improvement for a long time under him. Sheens always loved him though.

Flanagan - controversial, but turned Cronulla around. Strong chance he brings his son along who I don’t rate.

Ryles - unproven, may throw his hat in the ring after time as the Storm and Roosters.

Farah - left field, but I wonder if Farah looks to move into an assistants role.

Paul Green - too similar to Madge and not really a development coach. Needs the cattle and has had a few recent unsuccessful attempts with other clubs.
