Wests Tigers Coaches

Some changes are obvious for next week. We need starting centres Naden, Olam. Sezer at halfback. Klemmer should be dropped for that performance if start Sam Fainu and Pole at prop. Papalli one more game or move him on he’s not trying. Has talent just going through the motions.
Mason should be in the team somewhere. Simpkin, Sezar, Olam, maybe Lobb. We have to get our centers sorted. Olam, maybe Bula ( Mason to fullback) ,young Finau if fit. Same for Naden.
Not to bad for our first real game. Young Bud cost us big time. The Forbes Ferrari should have scored but seemed to have a brain freeze.

We will go ok. Have patience.

Anyway. Benjis first game as coach. Congratulations Benji. Hope you learnt something. Baptism of Fire. I didn't expect to win... your players seemed to play the same way... unfortunately..... next week the dream continues..... most of all... I salute you all....blood in blood out..... the fans... the backbone....

I was happy that the team didnt get 50 put on them and Galvin did very well on debut...It certainly is early days but as the season wears on the combos will start to develop hopefully once Benji finds his permanent halves, the centres are finalised and the starters are sorted, still plenty of work to be done but not impossible...
I have a couple of takes on the Raiders game.....

1...Maybe Benji had the more experienced players stand back a bit and let the youth play their game with the older guys shadowing them just to see how they handle the NRL game...maybe...not sure.....

2...When I look at the coaches and assistants,I cant help but feel its another boys club forming,Marshall,Farah,Morris,Hieno etc....All great players all proved they can play NRL,BUT as many have said ""great players dont always make great coaches...

I truly hope these guys can get the best out of these players and the team becomes competative, tough and most of all smart in the way they play...

I have always stated we give Benji the CHANCE to show us he can become an NRL head coach as well as giving this youthful team the time to develop skills and talent..Im not being negative just a bit curious how Benji will respond to yesterdays loss..

It really could have been worse if they got belted 60 to nil by an aggressive Raiders team...
Maybe there is light at the end of a long tunnel....

Noticed Tim Grant in the sheds at FT anyone know what position he holds?
He was decked out in tigers gear so probably not just a blow in im guessing.

Pretty much everyone in this thread going back. A few years knew what was good what was likely not going to be good re: the coaches
As Fallen Angel stated it was a. PR exercise... Keep the happy clappers and the casuals happy... Justin couldnt allow the membership figures to drop regardless of how fabricated they were.
Yet again wins are not first and foremost our.main.priority.
We have kids calling out they ain't on board and don't care who knows
How.long can this charade continue?
While THE NRL have there criteria for admission to the comp... They continue to turn a blind eye to the problems that exist... As long.as.we bring in $$$ that's all they care for.
Bring on the international end of season footy because with WTs and NSW... It's pretty much the enjoy mentningetnfrom footy each season

Drove by concord and fluked seeing team in opposed session when I had time to stop. Watchee for 30 minutes. The session seemed pretty smooth in their cycling through attack and defense, though it was clear Api was more enthusiastic than the rest of the team. He also talked a lot to them. Marshall shouting instructions and leading it.

I've never seen a training session before but I feel like there could have been more urgency between drills and that perhaps there was a lack of clear structure after the session. After the session they practiced a few line dropouts but these weren't well contested, there were a few sprints for some players, while the others milled around (miller really struggled), Sullivan was kicking goals with no one collecting balls, papalii and tupou did some fitness work then were kicking grubbers at each other, Klemmer was tackling seyfarth while other forwards went inside, just not a lot of organisation to all of that.

Then they had backs running plays against each other and initially Sezer was first receiver then Marshall stepped in at first receiver while Sezer sat out watching it. I don't know why they'd do that. Players walking back to spot after each passing play, looked slow. I left then. I dunno, it could be fine, I've never watched a session before, it just looked like in the main event of opposed session it was clear and there was intensity, but everything around it and after seemed more ad hoc and unfocused.

Maybe that's how it goes but you had Sullivan down one end kicking goals and a whole bunch of assistants milling around having a chat at halfway. Surely one could go with Sullivan?

Anyone seen other teams training sessions? I guess I just expected a bit more sort of organisation around all of it.

Lobb was on the wing, Olam in the stands, Bateman not training, faatape at left centre. Matamua was with the seconds, I think seyfarth in the middle of the firsts, Porter on an edge. Miller standing next to Bateman looked funny in their enormous size difference.

I appreciate that fans can just show up and watch. If I had time I'd probably waste it watching more.

Great observations @watersider !

Like any successful organisation, everything should be well planned & resourced. If it didn't appear like this to you, it probably wasn't as slickly organised as it should.

I just hope Richo casts an eye over it from time to time and knows what is missing so it can be addressed.
