Wests Tigers Coaches

Who are these young guns that Maguire did not give a crack to that are actually ready?
Not buying any of it - Maguire lost the support of the board and Sheens delivered the message with a lot of garb about Pathways and Development coaches - so fans could nod their heads.
Good luck to the next coach - hope he backs Nofa.

No one is saying Madge didn't give them a crack, they are still too young at present the ones I am alluding to. It is just that Madge is not the coach to develop them, I really like Madge but he is tactically not at a high level and these kids need someone who is up there in that regard. I spoke with one of Madge's allies on Monday, a former Kiwi great, who I work with but cannot name as it will expose him, and in his words he said Madge is great with international and star studded teams but is tactically way behind the eight ball.

There seems to be a lot of noise coming from a high profile rugby league identity whose club was in the running for a coach we are after. It should provide enough of a hint to suggest who our new coach will be.

How, Why - From where....
He's not been a coach of any merit at any time...

What was he doing before we put him in pathways?
Last I saw he was commentating sideline for reserve grade!!
Assistant coach at both the Bulldogs and Raiders before Coaching our Under 20's in 2015 that contained Jacob Liddle. Te Miere Martan, Junior Tatola made the finals..then his wife got sick and passed away in 2017..he stepped away from coaching all together to raise his 4 daughters..

I'd cop Tooves. Good one.
Geoff Toovey actually kept Manly going and Thriving. I .. I just don't know.
Put him outside that club, a club that is like blood to him and I think his heart won't be in it.

Since were doing an interim coach, Toovey would be a more interesting choice then Killer Kimmorley. Heck he has made the finals but hey Trent Barrett was just too good to ignore :)

The problem is Toovey would forklift Manly's system. Des would adjust that system to our side. The manly front row rebuild was done under Toovey's time.... Unless there was a club connection or Toovey really put his hand up, it's a No.

Forgot to mention Payten
Would take him also
No, not with the squad we have.
Payten got the Cowboys forward pack firing. He was a genius in pulling Jason T to reserve grade and getting his game right.
We don't have a Jason, we don't have a Hess. Heck the one player he was interested in is joining the Cows.

Payten will almost ignore the halves. By having Thurston around he can leave the halves with him (and Chat T plus Tom Dearden, your doing ok). In our squad Payten would improve our forwards, sure. Leave Hastings to steer the halves and be lost with our backs.

We need to get a solid and regular lineup at the back row. Sure same wingers each time, but no more changing centers.

I suspect Flanno is the only one desperate enough for this poisoned chalice.

It's his teeth when he smiles.
Pure evil🤣
Recall Flanno a few months ago on radio when asked about the Tigers job (following rumours about Maguire getting the flick) that he didn't think the Tigers was the club for him. Good enough for me to say thanks but no thanks!!!

I really believe that Sheens is going to turn this basketcase around. I was a big Madge fan until I thought it through yesterday and listened to Tim's comments. We need a coach who can develop the young talent coming through and unfortunately Madge is not that man, he is a passionate man manager suited to international teams but tactically and development wise he is not it. We may well lose the likes of Hastings etc but if they are not invested then who cares. We will be in for some painful years again blooding these youngsters but it will be necessary,it is not like we have been setting the world on fire anyhow. I hope Noddy pisses off some of the older bludgers now such as Tamou, Nofa, Garner, Brooks etc and regardless of results we see some young guys given a crack.
I agree with you
but I don’t believe we will struggle next year if we get the rite coach we have a lot of depth in all positions other than second row witch I’m sure the new coach will adress since he has been given plenty of time to sort it before next year

I was a Madge fan but looking back on it I believe this is the rite call

That's the definition of tough.

Great role model to men.

This job is no walk in the park. This is more than providing pathways it's about absorbing the pressure of all that goes with it. Who ever replaces Maguire is still faced with a competitive market that we are at the bottom of the barrel in - in the here and now. There is no magical pathway to when this young crop are potentially ready and it appears on the surface the decent players at the club backed the ex coach and all anyone really cares about is if the FG squad is winning. The board lost their nerve in backing Maguire in my opinion - let's hope it was the right decision

He'll do us solid.
Hard to discount him too if he does a good job this year, he might want to stay on if allowed.
