I'd say all recruitment and retention will be placed on hold until the coach is sorted. Hopefully it's done quickly because as Sheens has said 1000 times November is coming. Fitzgibbon was able to lure Hynes and Finucane to Cronulla, if we can get Ciraldo or Morris there's no reason why we can't do similar.

Unfortunately no decent Panthers off contract this year but have S Chrichton, Martin, Leniu off contract next year for 2024, plus Burton at Bulldogs. I could definitely see a big play for Liam Martin & Matt Burton as they are not part of the Mt Druitt crew.

There is soooo much moving around atm with basically 4 new teams forming (Dolphins, Warriors, Bulldogs and Tigers) that will see an impact in various ways on who is available, what players get offered & who moves to what clubs based on connection

Why is everyone so certain that players will leave because Madge has been sacked? How do you know the whole squad wasn't completely off him and told Sheens that?
Time will tell if the decision was a good or bad one, it wasn't made hastily, it's his 4th Season in charge. I wish Madge every success and I don't dislike him, even the media (who love shit canning us) haven't criticised us over this.

I think we need to quickly move from the" pathways " talk because when push comes to shove if the FG squad is not performing then no one will give a rat's about what possibly might happen in three years. The new coach needs to able to recruit now and and retain who we have got - Flannagan as much as I detested the bloke at Cronulla has the runs on the board and we are in no position to throw this at rookie.

this is an unpopular opinion, but I reckon Burton will stay with the dogs. they have just 6 players contracted for 2024 and Gould will convince him that he will build a team around him. I'd say it's either the dogs or back to Penrith. Liam Martin and Leniu will definitely be worth looking at, but will have a number of potential suitors.

Now Maguire is gone I would like to see Cameron Ciraldo signed as Coach in 2023.

It would be great if he could bring across Charlie Staines and Liam Martin for 2023 from Penrith.

Canterbury swaps us Matt Burton and Hetherington and we give them Brooks (I like him but he really needs a fresh start and as a running 5/8) and Nofoaluma. Happy to pay Bulldogs some money as well to make it happen.

AD would either play Centre or Number 14 and Staines or T'oa on the wing.

I might be off my rockers here but I would find it incredibly stupid if a replacement coach for 2023 has not already been signed up before they went down the termination route yesterday. We know with WT that anything and everything is possible.

I can understand if the new coach has current obligations so does not want it officially announced yet.

Hopefully Sheens can take over the recruitment as WT can't leave that too long with Dolphins signing up everyone.

Also at what point of the season should WT consider blooding some juniors and rest players moving on in 2023? I would allow Uto and AD every opportunity to fully recovery from their respective injuries and come out full guns blazing in 2023 with an offseason under their belts.

Of all the juniors you will likely see Pole get a game or two off the bench (I think he was Matts just a year or two ago too, crazy) and perhaps Matamua if he can stay injury free.

Other than Darius Boyd who followed Bennett from club to club, most players would know and accept that coaches can come and go at any time. Can't imagine Jackson or anyone else spitting the dummy and leaving just because of Madge's exit.
