Can't agree. Cleary is a very good coach and yes he has a great squad but you still need to be able to player manage, strategise and deal with the pressure of expectation at a club like the Panthers.

How many players have we developed over the last decade? How many have joined the club at Flegg or below, and gone onto a long and successful NRL career with us? Brooks and Nof would be about it, and most fans want them gone.
Players leave our club and then usually become better. It's because we don't develop players, they stay at the Same level or eventually go backwards. That's why we need a coach who can develop players.

Oh and Penrith are a development club, is that such a bad model to have?

Your going to pin 10 years of failure on the first grade coach?
Wouldn’t you expect the players to be ‘developed’ prior to getting a first grade debut.
Guess the next coach is going to have his hands full coaching 5 teams.

I pin the majority of the cap management on Kelly Egan, and Pascoe for hiring a bloke who has only ever been an assistant coach into a General Manager role.

Cleary had nothing to do with it. They’d already made up their minds to leave. All made the right decision too except for Woods. Absolute cock-up him leaving. A combination of him being an absolute airhead who believed he’d become bigger than the club, and some very bad advice being given to him. Could and should have been a one club player, yet will retire deservedly known as a drifter. I can see him trying to get back into the clubs good graces post-retirement by saying positive things about them. Very glad Madge shut the door on his return to the club this year. Let him flounder on 1 year contracts till he finally hangs them up.

I've moved on from Woods, the reality is he chose the wrong club to join. If he went to the Roosters he would have played origin the last 5 years. I agree he was a terrible captain, but he didn't make himself captain.

Cleary did get us performing better with the cattle we had but he screwed us completely.

He shouldn’t accepted the role then. If he wants to go into business for himself, that’s fine. But when you are captain you are mouthpiece for the club.

Tim doesn’t seem to me to be the kind of bloke who makes decisions to please fans or the board he appears to make decision in the best Interest of winning football games

at end of the day , it was his 4th year and team was going nowhere . Hasn’t developed really anyone in that time . The two youngters that looked good last year have gone backwards this year .

seems that some are at the stage that they will complain about anything and everything the clubs decides.

as for Inheriting a bad side , 90% of the coaches get the gig because a club is going bad ..only select few get them in good health.

I’m not into factions, I will just assess each post on its merits.

There are factions on the other forum and I was giving Tyrone May a good kicking on the smug forum when he went feral and virtually no one joined me until the club sacked him.

Like @stryker 69, I had a giggle at the hypocrisy.

Funny thing though, their big and powerful mods were very very tolerant of my position and I pay tribute to them.
