Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Surely the Cowboys start to feel some salary cap crunch. They have rocketed up the table and have a lot of money invested into some of their senior players (Taumalolo, Townsend, Holmes, Luch next year). All their young guns are gonna want an upgrade pretty quickly the way they are playing. There’s got to be some gettable quality players in that squad.
A couple of their players got unexpected SOO call ups that will possibly trigger contract upgrade clauses or at very worse have a few player managers on the phone demanding upgrades

Fox sport are reporting that the Cowboys are again trying to get LL for the rest of the year.
This was in the DT also says WT have 2 spots left.

The Cowboys are expected to ask the Tigers again if they are prepared to release Leilua who has already agreed to a three year deal to join the club from next season.

North Queensland have the cap and roster space to make the move happen and have kept the door ajar in the hope of landing the damaging back-rower. Michael Maguire’s axing this week could help aid the move but it is understood Leilua has so far been reluctant to quit on his teammates given their current predicament.

But the Tigers may wish to save six figures by allowing Leilua to play out the rest of the season with North Queensland who sit inside the top four.

I love the way the Fox Sports article said it would be a cost savings for WT. As if we needed it.....

On the other hand, assuming WT season is gone, Lucy's remaining salary would be money well spent from this season's salary cap to bring forward upgrades to Hastings, Laurie, Doueihi and the like that the club intend to extend.

Plus we could promote and bring in one of the youngsters in for short stints.

At the end of the day, why not save some (more) money by flicking Luc to the Cowboys. We ain't winning anything (except maybe the spoon) and it appears development is again the order of the day at the Tigers...

All good but I'd go after a young good prop from there if their is a swap. If we save money and.get a young tough forward I wouldn't be against it.
