Wests Tigers Podcast - Hosted by Helmsey&Eddie.

I’m sick of you characters who just blindly defend the clubs every shit move. Ignore my comments.
I don't defend every club shit move. I defend some of the less shit moves. I think there is a gradient of shit moves, with some being very shit and some being not actually so bad.

I'll repeat the thing I've said dozen times now on this forum - I consider myself a moderate. Nothing is as good or as bad as some people would like to suggest. There need not be any excessive euphoria or wrist-slitting about anything to do with rugby league.

In my opinion social media is trending towards excessive extremes - you apparently have to hate something or love something to get your opinion across. I don't really want that for this forum, though it is trending that way and has been for years.

So I try to be moderate in all considerations; it works for me. It also means I won't go about belittling or berating anyone, because I am not so invested in one particular outcome.

After 3-4 years, I was moderate. 8-9 years I was angry. We are now looking at 15 years. Mate it’s time for change.

What change is that?

You and I already discussed this at length, I thought. It appears you want Pascoe and/or the Board gone. That's not going to happen, or at least not under any pressure that you or I can apply. Personally I came to terms with that reality a long time ago, which is why I neither specifically endorse nor aggressively defend the administrators.

I don't want to be angry, it's not healthy. Especially not over rugby league. I'd walk away from the game or the forum or the Tigers if they caused unmanageable anger.

Interestingly however you commented today that changing the coach "does nothing". And yet you are very much in favour of changing the CEO and/or Board members. Those will achieve something where a coach change will not? I find that an odd position to take. Personally I think removing the CEO will have far far less impact on the football results than changing head coach.

We need a leader who can drive cultural change. This one raves about hat sales.

The trouble with Lee H in my opinion is that he doesn't get the game and what attracts players to clubs. He sees the financials and the CE as draw cards, but knowledge about the game and people who are respected in the game - whether that be in the admin and or the playing group - is always going to be more attractive to players seeking advancement in their career - especially if the money is similar - in the here and now.
I know Maguire had detractors but he walks away still respected for what he has achieved in the game and we are no closer to changing the perception of who we are - a club that backs underachievers - and if we don't get the replacement that we sacked him for it reinforces that we never seem to learn.

And what if the CEO role is not involved, or is no longer involved in cultural change of Football Operations?

Haven't Tim Sheens and Matt Betsey been hired to drive cultural change in Football Operations?

Silos don’t work. If our highest paid employees are doing nothing to contribute to wins, piss them off.

In the last decade the entire roster has changed, the coach has changed, the ownership has changed, the CEO has changed. I get people are frustrated, but chucking everything out the cot isn't going to help.

Roster - been shit for 11 years, no change
Coach - gets blamed and changed every 2-3 years
Ownership/Board - I keep getting told that can’t be changed
CEO - has had 7 plus years at this rabble

Clear to me what needs to be changed…

They are severely out of touch, rather than try and understand what they don’t know, they outsourced it to Sheens. They are now superfluous to needs at WT.
