Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

In my experience second rowers are the guys that drive the mentality of your team. They are usually big, strong and fit.

For me, it’s the single biggest reason Maguire didn’t work. Plodders.
Very good call there also in the best position on the field to lead line speed and talk to the hole team

Oh my Zen master....
DEAD ON!!

If you can get one with a footy brain it's a godsend...
We've not had decent second rowers (Or centres) in forever!!

Even with Blore and the kids behind him - Who's going to teach them?
We need quality experience in different positions on the field....
To bring through the quality kids and show them how it works - why it works and how to keep the path.
We had a shit tin of talent coming through 10 years ago, Overpaid them to the point where we couldn't afford to keep or get anyone to teach them the game...

- Worked well.
Long career with lots of time on the wing mate, I say to people often, I’ve watched a LOT of footy from out there. 😂

You have to say being a quality Second Rower puts you in a great position for a big pay day.

Dolphins have secured Storm's starting Second Rowers and player from Cowboys

Storm will need to recruit two new Second Rowers for 2023. They lose 4 of their starting pack from last night's game

Wests Tigers need one or two Second Rowers

Parramatta need one or two Second Rowers.

If you are a quality second rower out of the above mentioned sides WT would probably be third pick unless player does not want to relocate to Melbourne.

Let's hope Blore stays injury free in 2023 and one of the development players can step up in 2023. I can't see WT securing another Second Rower from an NRL side. Maybe a fringe player at best.
Papali’i and Blore should be our second rowers next year. Just need some depth around them.

I think your well written post reminds me why I was disappointed in the club terminating Madge when they did. I think there were significant inroads with the culture side of things and the positive on field results weren’t too far away with his approach.
Thank you TF.

Completely agree. I had a bit of a rant about it after first seeing it on here.

I had just the previous day posted that Maguire's stoicism and unwavering conviction to the cause (along with the renewed recruit/retain philosophy) was exactly what the club needed.

I really thought he was integral to what I really believe has the club on the path to success.

Let's face it - the squad is currently just not up to standard and it's sad to see he went through so much (so much of the cap wasted!) and now won't be able to enjoy any future success the club may attain to which he may be a large part.

We'll never know.

Sadly, they will instead be applauded for making the call they did and his defenders will find it nigh impossible to dispute. 😕

You're forgetting the Storm rarely sign high profile players. And by the way they've already got their back row sorted: Sims and Howarth (who they're paying 500k as a teenager)
