Luke Brooks - Mega Thread

Get rid of brooks cause Hastings and madden are killing it. And AD will with out a doubt turn our fortunes. Listening to media muppets will always ensure we get results on the park.

As a team we are so far behind the rest of the comp it’s a joke.

I meant to say that playing in KOE does noone any good, devalues him.
If he was playing really well it would be easier to sell him imo.
Imagine the round after reps he get mom. Don't you think it would be a better sell for us and brooks?
I definitely agree with what you’re saying. I don’t agree with brooks in KOE for a few reasons including the above.

I’m speculating that the club has now started the process of moving him on. Leaking to the media Brooks maybe dropped is their way of saying to him that he should start looking at options.

They were in talks with Newcastle before or in the early parts of the season, when we still had something to play for. Newcastle didn’t want to pay more than $500k so at the time we declined because we needed depth in the halves to be semi competitive.

And all 4 are off contract at the end of next season...
What's our back up plan?

Cos anyone who thinks we're a chance at keeping all 4 with how we're going, It outside their mind.
We might even be lucky to keep 2.... Then What?

His salary is back down to $1.1m today 😂

“Isn’t it interesting that we’re talking about Luke Brooks again and Michael Maguire isn’t even in the equation,” Bishop said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“At the back end of last year, it was going to be one or the other – Madge or Brooks.

“It was really a sliding doors moment at the end of last season when the Knights did all they could to lure Brooks up the M1, but the Tigers refused to let him go.

“But we were always going to be talking about this right now, the Brooks drama was always going to resurface when Adam Doueihi returned from injury.

“The Adam Doueihi / Jackson Hastings combination is ready to go and Brooks may be dropped by Round 16.”
“The club’s line is, they don’t want to let Brooks go, and they just want the best from every player,” Bishop said.

“If they try to offload him it is going to be extremely costly, we’re talking $600,000-800,000 for him to play for another club which is awfully expensive.

“Possibly they should’ve taken that earlier option with the Knights.”

While the Knights have been the club most linked with Brooks, Bishop says the Dolphins are also considering a play at the right price.

“We are hearing the Knights are still keen,” Bishop said.

“The Dolphins wouldn’t mind a look-in as well, but at the right price.

“He’s on big money, $1.1 million next season, so that’s pretty much out of the equation for either one of those clubs.

“It’s not as though this is something new, we see this quite often when a new coach comes in and wants to clean out.”

Ive always said its great to have players that are great today....but you always have to think about tomorrow....

I don't see any reason to release Brooks unless he wants to be released and the deal suits us. The media drama is at all time levels of stupidity.

I said at the start of the season Brooks was under huge pressure and he hasn't performed well enough albeit behind a pack getting absolutely smashed. Hastings hasn't performed under the same conditions.

I also said Hastings and Doueihi should be our halves. We have 4 options in our halves. The club needs to pick the players they see as leading us forward and sign the other players as back-ups or utility options on the appropriate salary.

If any of those players aren't happy with whatever decision is made they can be released and go elsewhere if the deal suits us. If not they stay.

There's some common sense...
Shame it's not so common.

I feel for Brooks as he has been the punch bag for a few years now , under Cleary he was playing very well so it is in him we just have a rubbish pack , no go forward and dominated in most matches I would love to see him behind a pack with
Appi , Papi , Stef , Joffa then add 2 more hard heads like Brown and Lodge and I said like Brown and Lodge it would make his and Jacko life much easier and then they could play there game add a centre and maybe we head up into the 8 , we can do this we just need to speed it up. Sign a coach and get the cheque book out. Players will come knowing who the coach is and see who we already have coming
I feel sorry for Brookes quite often too but he just doesn't nail the kicks he needs to place pressure on the opposition. His up and unders are worse than mine when I was 3. An occassional fluff up mixed in with some good kicks would be more than acceptable - his ratio is unfortuntely the exact opposite. Last weekend was the nail in the coffin for me.

Do we really know what Brooks contract is next year I know it's back ended BUT last year it was $750k all of a sudden its being quoted as being 1.3m I know Luke has his detractors on this Forum 😂😂😂 but what ever we think of his ability as a player the guy is pure Genius when it comes to contract negotiations if this true.

We got Rid of the Coach - We'll get rid of the Halfback....
Running out of people to punt for being a low level club.

It's kind of like salmonella - you got to purge properly to get better. :)

I get you like him - I liked Madge and didn't want him punted but now some toys are thrown out of the sandpit we might as well get rid of the others ones missing a wheel too.

Apparently we are paying Brooks 1.3million next year 😂 the cake of his contract just keeps climbing
I think that makes him the highest paid NRL player and that Whiley old fox Bennet will get him in his prime for half that.

Brooks will do well at Redcliff for the reasons you've outlined.
