Wests Tigers Coaches

From Joel Caine on SEN:

Speaking on SEN’s NRL Crunch Time, Caine mentioned the continual rumourmongering that has seen names like Cameron Ciraldo linked to the role.

“I’ve got an open letter to the Wests Tigers. ‘Dear Wests Tigers, it appears as though (Cameron) Ciraldo is not going to be the one. Whoever is going to be the one, let's challenge ourselves just to announce the coach. Get all your due diligence done behind the scenes where no one is talking about it, let’s zip our lips up and prove to people that we’re not the loose lips ship in this competition,” he said.

“The challenge is to do all the homework, decide upon the coach and announce the coach without everyone talking about it.

“Please, just do it.”

Michael Maguire was sacked after 80 games at the helm of the Tigers, where he won just 29 clashes and has been replaced on an interim basis by the prior Pathways Coaching Manager Brett Kimmorley.

Caine was critical of the professionalism at the Tigers when compared to how other clubs may go about the same situation.

“The Melbourne Storm would just come out and you wouldn’t have heard a squeak about it and they would’ve announced their coach, the Sydney Roosters would do the same,” he said.

“Wests Tigers please, just this once, tighten up the lips, show the world that you don’t have to share everything with the media, please, just for once, can we do that.”
Joel Caine 🤦‍♂️

But he was operating with a salary cap that Pascoe screwed! I don’t know how people can’t see that. We also made a decision not to pay overs to attract good players. So no, it was not a roster he wanted. It’s not a roster any coach should have to work with. Pascoe and Cleary rooted us.
In a sense Ur right and I agree with you, the thing that keeps getting overlooked though is as a coach no matter who or what quality of player I have it's my job to make them better, something Madge imo wasn't doing, there was Stefano he's the only one I can honestly say improved under Maguire the rest of the players seemed to go backwards, a good coach should be able to create a good team we were going backwards.

He was my number one choice from the get go, but I doubt the idiots at the club will appoint him
Does he fit the "development coach" garb - whatever that is? The trouble with having Sheens/Gould in these head of football roles they seem to want young coaches they can influence. Not sure Flannagan fits into that system but is probably the best credentialed that is available.

When the perception of WT wasn’t mud and he had a first grade standard squad.
It's his job to create a first grade standard squad, if they're not at that standard it's his fault. If he can't buy big name players, then develop a tactical approach to try and create them.

But the Melbourne Storm are the most boring team on earth and the Roosters not far behind. Nobody cares who coaches them.

On the other hand, wt stuff is compulsory viewing. The lockers don’t close properly, we need to know.

Does anyone really think he was
Going to come here with Clearly bagging the crap our of the club to him, Phil Gould bagging us and pretty much every media expert bagging us.

Our club is not one for an inexperienced coach. Forget Morris and Wolfe. We need a coach who has some balls…. Bring on Flanagan i say.

It’s unfair to ask a squad of the quality of WT to play against the best in the world week after week. They are going to look silly a lot, and that is not an environment that creates development. Imo.

No mate - if that was possible all teams would be equal. The best teams have the best players it's that simple and our roster is arguably the weakest in the competition. There are plenty of coaches with better squads than ours that are also struggling to compete against the better teams.

And that my friend is why CC knocked us back. You are asking for the impossible.

Have been reflecting on Flanno and Morris. Both from the Sharks, one of the most determined, dogged playing groups in the comp. You deadset see their wingers would intimidate our pack, purely based on attitude. Very hard to believe either of those guys could build that here don't you think?

Look on the bright side! Sure we have no coach & no big name players would touch the club with a barge pole & we are as popular with players as the plague but we have the bright & shiny new Centre of Excellence!

I know right, what was that. Almost like he was admitting that this squad is doomed for at least the next 3 to 4 years. Imagine not making the finals for over a decade and then saying you are still 3 or 4 years away.
Imagine that being your selling point to a potential coach.
