Wests Tigers Coaches

I think it could be one or more of four things:

- it's because people are scared of being seen as failures (look at the way some players use 'I want to be in a winning club' as an excuse);
- they don't want the long-term stress of trying to implement change (I know how mentallydemanding that can be from personal experience);
- they can't envisage how to turn the Titanic around;
- or he thought there is no chance of success with the staff and/ or players.
Or, Cleary sent Ciraldo to spy on us.

Good read INK.
I agree that there is a huge std difference between rounds.
One week a handful of players play pretty good footy only to back it up the next week with rubbish.
Madge kept saying that we trained really well during the week and he believes in the players....really??
I do agree that when my team trained hard and gelled during the week we normally played well on the weekend, so was Madge telling the truth or was this another smoke screen.
Maybe Madge was really running a wonky ship and he just had to go.
I was one of many who supported Madge, but really the side has lacked development and the players had no intensity or real skill right across the paddock during Madges tenure.
As you said INK, there was never a constant level of enthusiasm, not many players in the fight.
If Madge was running a wonky ship, how do you explain the negative impact on the scoreboard since his departure?

I dont really care who our next coach is as long as he has the credentials to coach at NRL level and can also attract NRL quality players needed in our weak positions to strengthen the side...
I also would have liked to have seen a complete internal review of the entire club not just the coach,because it seems to me we have suffered the same problems year in year out for the past decade...something isnt right and the sooner the shit hits the fan the better...

Same players mate.
My dig is really at the players first and foremost. Madge is loyal and tried to cover up the fact that he was going backwards with this team. Saying they trained hard and back it up with inconsistent games is the sign of the titanic going down.

Free country mate. You come down from your mountain lair on occasion to hurl bones at people, and cochise can post when he pleases.
@hobbo1 might have a few rough edges, but from the pm's I have had with him I've found him to be a fair dinkum 👍 decent bloke, who says it as he feels it with a very dry sense of humour 😂 which you either get or you dont...but I get it .
I hope I haven't embarrassed you Hobbo.

If you’re saying the players were demotivated, what was causing this? Could it have been the constant destabilising effect of the coach getting sacked?
This had been ongoing since he got the 2 year extension 😂

I would like to see Ben Gardiner given the opportunity,however he could be down the pecking order now
I'm with you re Ben Gardiner @Aceshigh
He had done well with our KOE side and I believe he was until Madge was sacked going to be our next head coach.
Just seems like he has paid a big price though by being TERMINATED from assistant coach in place of Farah.

The reason tigers offered a 5 year contract is money. Coaching has a salary cap. You can't pay someone $2M a season to coach. But you can spread it across more years. I.e. you can't offer a $5M 2 year contract, but you can offer $5M 5 years.

Therefore, you offer a coach a 5yr contract to guarantee them money in case they get sacked later on. It's a bargaining chip.

It appears that the only winners out of sacking Madge is the NZ international team and their supporters...
Well done to Madge and his squad...I hope he gets an opportunity in the NRL somewhere in the future...
Us atm are where we always are,hoping and praying for some sanity to prevail....
We certainly watched just what Madge can do with a talented and committed playing group.

Not that we needed that evidence after what he did in bringing South Sydney a FG title after 50 years waiting. Of course he had two of the games superstars is Burgess and Inglis, and a very capable support crew.

I hope the people who knifed him managed to watch the top flight games over the weekend. They don’t regularly get to see that sort of playing talent, not in their own backyard anyway.

Clutching at straws if you need to bring Hartigan into it.
Still on the defence.
You would have a lot more credibility if you weren't in the clubs pocket.
Flannos done the time.
Rather him than some gutless pricks that bash women and defenceless ppl like we have signed in the past.
But yeh, keep banging that drum🙄

I'm saying the roster is shite, the coach couldn't extract from them quality football and the club as a whole resembles the stability of the Ettamogah Hotel's foundations.
I'm sounding like a cracked record but a shite roster can breed all sorts of problems, one if which is inconsistent performances.
Sometimes a coach can extract above average performances from an an average squad (like the 1 pt win over Souths) but are hard to sustain.
Madge could not get the job done with our lot.
Both parties are accountable.
Time to bring in a new coach with new ideas and get this roster upgraded. One without the other is pointless.
