Wests Tigers Coaches

Don't usually agree with your posts but you're 100% spot on here.

Is there any successful NRL coach that got the job after only 2 years of assistant work? Head coaching for any side (let a lone a dumpster fire of our club) is a ruthless job, if Benji is serious about this career path he should be put as coach of a junior side, work his way up to assistant after proven results and then push for head coaching.
Gus played in 1986 with Souths, won a premiership as coach at Canterbury in 1988

Let's face it. No one else with any ability wanted the job by the sound of so hey, why not give it go. It could be a catastrophe or might be a master stroke in resurrecting the club.
Sheens for 2 years because there is no one else is one thing, signing Benji for 5 years after that is another. They are pretty much tying themselves to this post for nearly a decade. It’s unbelievable.

Yeah the 5 years is abit excessive, maybe a 2-3 year deal with an option to extend based on performance may have been better.

Lucky we didn’t get one of those rookie coaches who has only coached super league, been an assistant for years or coached lower grades/juniors or womens teams.

Nope we locked in Benji. At least he is media savvy.

Couple of things I look forward to:
- whether he still has the step to avoid difficult post match presser questions
- Robbie spending the next 2 years undermining him to get the job in 25 or 26

Bizzare? Crazy brave? Left field? Completely foolhardy or inspired? Just maybe it can work.

Benji, while presently very short on coaching experience, is certainly very knowledgable about the game, articulate and driven. Also there are some very good players coming to the club next year, some promising talent coming through and some salary gap space. If Benji does take over as head coach in two years maybe he will do so with less 'lead in the saddle bag' than previous coaches.

Could be a very good move , Benj learns off Sheens and also has all the Kiwi kids hoping he sees them and steels them for our junior path ways , Best of both worlds from juniors , look at it this way QLD just beat NSW with rookie Coach and Rookie assistants , NSW had ex NRL,coaches in Fitler and magregor
Hopefully Sheens stays to oversee things as football director once Benji takes over just incised if he needs help.

Wow 5 year deal for someone who hasn’t even been a assistant coach . They really are not trying to buy established players or the best upcoming talent as who with their carear in mind unless desperate would go to the club now knowing someone who has never coached will become head coach in 3 years
