Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Biggest issue is he can’t pass . The rest is all coachable . But he doesn’t have the most basic draw and pass game . It’s like he’s never done a 3 on 2 drill in his life .

Been running in open space his whole career...
Also not big enough or strong enough for an NRL centre - Won't be coaching that anytime soon....

1 - Brandon Tumeth
2 - Kade Dykes or Hayze Perham
3 - Nathan Brown
4 - Nu Brown

Not Nathan Brown. He is on a big contract at the end of his career and unwanted at a scumbo club. He might be okay if you get him cheap but that is going to be difficult.

The others are all good choices.

As Paws stated adding Pele to that list is a good choice. We need some impact props.

I would be happy with either Brown or Pele for different reasons. I think we'll only bring in one middle forward from outside the club.

Brown, for his experience in the middle, line speed in defence (which we need), aggression (which we need) & leg speed in attack (which we need) plus I can see the club doing it and using the PR line of bringing another Tiger home.

Pele, for his x-factor, impact & type that can run off the back fence who can inspire the other forwards.

I tend to think Sheens will want to bring in experience here & focus on pathways for promoting future young middles.

Should we be looking at players Benji played with at Souths as potential recruits? I saw in another thread that Latrell used a throw away line once of playing for Benji if he was HC. Maybe some other former team mates who looked up to him may consider joining him again.

But on looking at their off contract list, Latrell is the only appetising one off contract after next season. Maybe Lachie Ilias as a potential protege of Marshall and former Tigers junior.

It depends on money but I'd much prefer Pele. We need at least another middle forward but to be fair we've just bought in two juniors in Pole and Matamoa and they look good.

Their performances has made me feel a lot better than I did a couple of weeks ago. Prior to those guys coming in we had a real problem with our middle forwards and more important depth in those positions.

I think we still need to purchase a least one more impact prop.

Joseph Tapine would be the ultimate or some deal to get David Klemmer.

Imagine being able to sign the game's best backrower, hooker & front rower (Tapine) for next season!!!

IMHO. we need 3 new aggressive props, two to replace Tamou, and Seyfarth, and one for the depth.

Ideally we pay as much of Brooks contract for this year and next off now and do a swap deal for him with Newcastle for Klemmer. Use the Benji connection to sign Tapine and I'd even consider Shaun Johnson coming in to replace Brooks. He's the most Benji-like in his offthecuffedness.

Sheens isn't wasting time now with the official announcement, busy 2 weeks ahead meeting with managers of Laurie, Hastings & Doueihi.

He also is speaking with Nathan Browns new management Crown about what he's after & a potential move in 2023.

Brandon Tumeth is also on the verge of debut & re-signing to be in the clubs top 30 in 2023.

Jacob Liddle close to an immediate switch to the Dragons"

It's a shame Liddle moving on - I like him as a player. Thought he could get back to his scheming/running best in the new style of play that hopefully comes. I guess that means Api, then Simpkins, as the heir apparent. Probably best for Liddle if he wants to play firsts going forwards. Dragons are less annoying than they used to be, so I will be able to cheer him on there, as an ex-Tiger, which I can't do for Tedesco at the Rooters.

Thanks @THE_POM , any intel on other assistant coaches & future of the current?

I like Liddle and he killed it in the lower grades but he has been so poor this season. Poor service, some decent runs but not enough and some poor defense at times.

If he cleans up his game he could be a really good player but I think he is past the point of being a project ;player plus we have more than enough options in that position.

Yeah Pele for mine, hopefully this makes us more attractive to those guys on the periphery tossing up taking on a new challenge all together or having the challenge of trying to crack into a strong team

Now the Coach has been settled, for better or worse lets starting signing reinforcements now before the Flipper team in QLD fills their spots.

It will be interesting now to see how attractive WT are to quality players now Sheens, Marshall and Farah are in charge for next 5 years. Maguire's so called weakness was his lack of ability to attract top talent to improve WT chances of success.

Need to land 4 quality players to compliment the two coming in 2023.

I'd hate to open a can of worms here, but I'd cut our loses with Brooks, resign Madden for the next few seasons and quickly tie up AD & Jacko. Not sure about Tommy Talau & Jimmy the Jet.
Make a move for Pele & grab an experienced forward like Wade Graham or Mary Taupua if Tamou retires. Can you imagine Stefano and Pele up front with Api, Blore and Isaiah Papali'i second row, Joffa at lock and the young kids coming off the bench!
