Luke Brooks - Mega Thread

I think you’s are all being a bit hard on Brooks. He tries hard but personally I think his problem is that he just simply doesn’t have the brains or footy smarts to be a footballer. Doesn’t matter where you play him 7,6 or even 9 he just doesn’t have it between the ears.
Coming thru juniors he had the speed to beat other players and Moses to lean on but in the big league it just doesn’t cut it. That’s why every thing he does is premeditated and nothing off the cuff. Sometimes he gets lucky, most of the time he doesn’t.

Definitely a brains thing. Is quick, can tackle has all the attributes apart from his decision making

Saying the same rubbish a million times will not make it true.

If there was a better half at the club, they would be playing instead of Books.

Hastings is too slow to get on the outside of a defender and create space, he is not a good kicker so rarely kicks, he may be an organiser but that is not enough without the ability to create space or kick.

Doueihi does not seem to have a natural passing game, he seems to really hate to pass the ball. He also does not have a short kicking game. He is too slow to be a back and is a poor defender so can't be a forward. His best position is centre and he is being paid as a half. We need a creative 5/8 like Munster or Luai.

Madden looks out of his depth in reserve grade.

Mate I'm more confident in Madden managing a team to a win than Brooks.
 
You are kidding yourselves if you think madden can do a better job at half than brooks.
The whole ‘Let’s blame Brooks’ for everything has become stale.
Within every game halves make mistakes, it’s part of footy.
The difference is, you all blame brooks and highlight every bad highlight.
The guy puts in 100% every week, yes he makes mistakes, but it’s a team sport, the teams issues are bigger than just one player, and the annoying thing is.. you all know the issues the club has had, but ignore that when you want to bash brooks.
I Literally remember someone on this forum ripping on brooks while the dude was injured and nothing but a spectator on the sideline, yet, somehow that loss was still on brooks.
He may not be the answer but for FS, he ain’t the only problem, the problem is much much deeper.
And before someone says “He is PART of the problem and not part of the solution’ understand that a half back can generally only be as good as those around him.

Brooks is not a bad player he lacks confidence and his decision making is poor. He will flourish at a better club sometimes you can’t get better at the same place.

He’s done at the tigers.

No doubt Brooks’s gives it a red hot crack every week puts his body on the line has improved as a defender no denying that at all ! He gives it 100% but he lacks football IQ, instinct and a kicking game to be an NRL halfback at the moment, or atleast on this team, maybe he would fair better with a more established team… who knows 🤷‍♂️

I mean, as someone else said, and I think is the new catch cry. Just because someone says it’s true does not make it so. Yet, there will inevitably be meltdowns galore as usual when he is named again on Tuesday. People are just torturing themselves at this point.

Really not sure how.
Bit by bit any reason for Brooks to be in the side is slowly being replaced by alternative players.
Organising. Hastings at HB and now lock does this instead.
Kicking. Today we saw Doueihi take on a lot more dominant role.
Passing. Getting more ball players in the side so passing isn’t reliant on one player.
Shifting. Honestly need Lauri to do a lot more of this.
Eventually we’ll see no reason for Brooks position in the team.
Honestly I’d do it instantly and give him the remainder of the year in KOEcup to mentor Madden and find his confidence back himself.
O’Sullivan was by far the best half out their today and has spent 80% of his time in the KOE whilst at the Panthers
