Memories

Gareth Ellis is my favourite Wests Tiger to date. I don't think he ever played a bad game and I just developed such a deep respect for what he brought to the club every week for 4 seasons (though injured for much of the final season).

I obviously loved Benji and Robbie, but there were also a fair number of mis-steps in their careers, not necessarily always their fault, and for Benji plenty of rough matches in that long career. Still terrific footballers but not quite #1.

Hodgo, Ben Galea, Chris Lawrence. Darren Senter, Shane Walker. I was always a fan of "Try-Scoring Machine" Troy Wozniak. Big respect for Johnny Whitelegs Wilson.
Tunrtsiles Wozniak was a fake first grader!

Could not tackle to save his arse - and while he scored 9 tries in 18 games for the Tigers in 2002 - he only scored 10 in his entire 38 first grade games!

He was crap personified!

Payten was pretty underrated. You can really liken him to what Yeo is doing for Penrith now.
He was nothing like Yeo!

Yeo is tall and rangy and started his career as a centre/back-rower before moving to lock - Todd was the opposite build and played 99% of his NRL career at prop - just 6 games at lock!

Wow there are some ignorant statements here today!

Yeo what a player and I think his dad played a few games for the Tigers I have watched nearly all of his career I wish he was a Tiger has played fullback wing centre in the backline on many many occasions has filled in at prop and plays back row lock now and his minutes are quality

Toddy more then a little different to Yeo but Toddy had better hands

the fortunate 150 sitting in the grandstand at Lidcombe and the player tunnel/autograph alley, the bike track sprint for the rolly/polly comer posts, ipec victa cogger and our best ever #7 Tommy WSM

I remember Trevor Cogger sitting on the hill eating a couple of pies after scoring two tries in third grade. Call comes over the PA for him to go to the dressing room. Next thing he's running out for first grade where he plays a great game and, from memory, scores another try. Great little player, Trevor.

Thank you mate , I thought if I added that it would be to much of a read, it’s great to share the same memory.

I went to school with Trevor . . . he was also a good player in the high school teams that included Pobjie and the Neil's, and a couple of others that made it to 23's . He wasn't the biggest bloke there, but worked his arse off, and did exactly the same for the rest of his career. Great bloke, too.

He seemed to have the surfie air about him. Both he and his brother played with heart for Wests. Trevor was by far the better player but John played to the limit of his ability. Both were very loyal to Wests at difficult times.

Leo Epifania packing up the portable grandstand at lidcombe in 86 and then Steve Ghosn setting it up at orana park In 87.
who was there for our last and first games.
with all the pain at the time I’m happy now for being there .

I know the early years were a pretty bleak period (really, what’s changed?) before the premiership, but I have to admit, the year 2000 was probably one of the most enjoyable seasons I have ever had as a supporter. I was 13, coming off supporting the Magpies. The Magpies of 98 and 99 were probably the worst side in modern history. Won something like 5 games in 2 years. So to come in to the year 2000, albeit a new club, who had signed some big names, and won games semi regularly. If you remember, halfway through the season we were in 2nd spot. As a kid, who had only really supported a team who got thrashed every week (outside of 1996), it was great to finally follow a team that won a lot more than I was used to

It was injuries to our forwards which destroyed our hopes in 2000.Pearce was not a wonderful coach but he certainly was not as bad as some on here tried to make out
