Manly Inclusive Pride jersey backlash

All the Christians on the forum aren't trying to preach to you about why you're wrong.

I am just trying to say keep politics, religion and sexuality out of sport. I don't think that's very controversial.

In my opinion this is a false comparison.

If Christians won't support a simple jersey that is just trying to provide support for a minority group in Australia and the world they are preaching via their actions that a person's sexuality is their business.

That ain't Christian.

I'm an atheist but my wife is Catholic and goes to church every week plus bonuses. For instance she went today again because it's her Birthday.

I don’t hate anyone … well maybe one person . I’m just saying the flack it cops is pretty justified . Not joe blo who believes it , for the most part he’s just doing his thing , but the people at the top who manipulate and exploit the trust and love of the people beneath them is pretty rampant in just about any Christian based religion .
It’s pretty disgusting . And it’s good people for the most part are waking up from the 1800 odd year odd spell society has been in .
Don’t be so certain about most people waking up. There are large pockets of less mainstream Christianity popping up everywhere. A huge percentage of immigrants are indoctrinated religious of all types. There’s also a vocal minority of footy players and boxers who are converted Muslims for example.

What would Jesus do? He would accept them for what they are and promote such inclusive ideas.

Just as he would look after the poor, instead of having a society where the rich capitalise on the backs of others.

Hypocrites!
Didn't you hear? God loves everyone unconditionally, except gays.

How predictable that a team full of god-botherers would object to a rainbow jersey.

Why can’t they wear a jersey representing inclusion for everyone? Why just LGBTQ?

Seems like politics creeping into sport and I don’t think what you do in the bedroom in your private life should feature on any teams jersey.

Just my 2 cents.
Newsflash mate, sport has been political for as long as sport and politics have existed.

Didn't you see the latest census 2021? Christians make up less than 50% of the country, first time it's ever dropped below half, and it has been in free-fall for decades. Nearly 40% of Australians claim no religion. All other non-Christians combined = 10%.

We get it mate. You don't like religion.

You don't have to preach it to everyone.

Some fair points here but what’s your opinion on pray circles after the game in full playing kit?

The same as if there were gay circles in full playing kit. Let individuals be individuals. I just don't think anyone or any club should force their polticial, religious or sexual views on others.

I think a fairer comparison would be what people would think if Manly came out and did a Christian pride jersey with a big cross on it...I don't think that would be right because they are imposing that view on the players...my view goes both ways equally.

Oh boy the Wests Tigers forum certainly lacks theological knowledge. Just a PSA, if a Christian position seems outrageously stupid to you, you likely don't actually understand it as well as you think you do.

Thanks for your response. However I am now wondering what a gay circle would look like after a game. (No need to respond but feel free to if you have a PG idea because I don’t 🤣)

Doesn’t look that bad, clashes a bit with his eye colour but all in all, looks good

What I find interesting, jokes aside, is everyone seems to be on-board with indigenous round and the All-Stars match, and everyone is cool with Women's round, recognising the impact of women on rugby league.

But some dudes are not cool about the Sea Birds having an "inclusiveness" round focusing on sexual orientation.

So it's only acceptable to recognise some minorities but not others apparently.
