Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It’s great to be a WT fan at the moment.

Not only are we running last we get to enjoy:
- winning a game and then having it taken away from us due to inept refereeing
- when it’s bye week and we get to hear about our first choice coach rejecting us
- that same coach choosing to go with the reigning wooden spooners ahead of us
- making one of our best signings in our history (Papali’i) only for him to potentially backflip

I’m hoping there is light ahead but this year could not have gone worse.

We all saw what having a good second row forward running off your halves can do when Kelma played a great first half. Brooks looked like a star again. That is the secret to unlocking our spine/attack.
That was the first game since Madge left that the second rowers were actually meant to receive the ball. They've been almost exclusively used as decoys. Compare both Kelma and Garners stats over the past few weeks.

I'm not sure of this. To'a has made more than one bust on his own this season. His good work seems to be forgotten by the fans. Kepaoa hasn't performed as well this season but he has plenty of upside.

I don't see centres as a big issue now. We have some depth. I'd like to see Staines here as well because more depth in the outside backs would be good.

Naden is playing well.

Whoever marks Staggs this week is up against it though.
2 breaks in what, 15 games? Yep he's pushing for origin.. he's got some talent but he's lazy too.

I don’t believe our halves trust them. A. They’re leaving and B. They mostly just plod. Prime example Kelma clearly over ran Brooks on that pass meaning the only option was to hit him low on the right hip and the rest was history. Should not have passed it but probably won’t next time.

Not a good example of how contractual law works!

In the Papaali case he is the contracted party (as per Telstra in yours).

If we fail to pay him we are in breach of contract and he will rightfully seek damages.

However if he repudiates the contract by not turning up to training etc - we can seek damages too but these are limited as he does not have an agreement to pay the club!!

Most damages would be paid by his new employer and we just end up with some extra cash - but also an empty spot on the roster!!

Please refrain from lengthy posts with complete ignorance of how contracts actually work!!
That certainly explains a lot and why in the past we have been seen to roll over. I thought the player would have a obligation to train and play and the club had obligation to pay the agreed amount. Why in the past have we had players sit out a season like Gordon Tallis??

Of course the other thing is if Parra paid any compensation on Paps behalf, surely that comes off their cap.

Have a son who is a lawyer who posts on here regular, will have to get a ruling….but thanks for the clarification

Melbourne is taking him remainder of the year
I don't know what we can possibly gain from this.

What if he does an ACL or has more concussions in the finals? He becomes less valuable to us even though he has a guaranteed salary.

If it goes well, he might try and stay there and there is no way Melbourne will pay for his full contract value.

Funny that no other club agreed to this other than Wests Tigers.
