Penriff got from us:

Matt Eisenhuth
Robert Jennings
Paul Momorovski (Early release w/$$$)

We got:

Shaun Blore (mid 2020)
James Tamou
Daine Laurie (a year early for Momo & some $$$)
Alan Fitzgibbon

Also what we got , which can’t be underestimated , is a lot more indigenous in the top 30. Which is a good thing as I wonder how we might have suffered with the optics of this over the last 5-10 years.

You’re right mate I’ve been thinking about this very thing a lot of late. The vast amount of indigenous talent seems to bypass us majority of the time to south’s. I’m glad the club has acknowledged this and from all reports and recent signings have gone a long way to try and rectify this. We shouldn’t be a club that shunned by these very talented young men any longer, we should embrace create pathways and become an attractive destination for the players. Long may it continue.

It was very evident, very noticeable.
For every other club to at least have a couple of indigenous players and for years we had none... I've questioned this a few times in the past

With Ron Griffiths as part of the coaching staff the attraction to the West's Tigers will only get better

Is he an elder ? What’s his background?

He has been a very successful coach over the years in the Koori Knockout coaching a few winning teams https://www.weststigers.com.au/news/2020/01/29/wests-tigers-appoint-ron-griffiths-as-coaching-assistant/

Good appointment.

Even the sharks has thier fair share of indigenous talent . Think about that for a second ... Cronulla ! We must have been doing something wrong . Like you said I’m glad it’s been addressed.

100%, I have questioned our engagement with indigenous players in the past. I mean we have always been a hot place to go for the polynesian lads, but we have always struggled to lure indigenous talent.

Honestly, Momo and Eisenhuth are good signings for Penrith. Eisenhuth is solid player which you still need in a side. Would have come cheap and while I think he may not make the top 17 every week, he will not be out of place and do a job. Momirovski will probably find himself in the same position and will probably not play FG unless there is an injury which perplexes me as to why he was ready to leave us.

On paper we got the better deal by a long stretch though. Time will tell though.

Yea , I think they got better roster balance . You can’t have a stud languishing in reserves . Especially in the I want it all yesterday , society we live in today. If they keep their best team on the paddock it’s a non starter as they have zero change , but for us , we trade depth players for starters, so we inch ever closer to relevance .

Im guessing Madge identified this rather early on working at Souths, get things right and they will want to come. We all know you have to have the framework in place the pathways the acknowledgment. As someone else said we have Griffen here Tahu as a mentor JTJ on board now Laurie. Also Potentially Fitzgibbon, Roberts Davis and some others. We havent had it right for a long time but we can and will fix that situation.

The players we recruited will be in the Top 17 to 20 in our squad as that was the need..Pamfers got back ups to the back ups...shows where both teams were/are at..

Comparing the players themselves is pointless..

Pretty sure we did, but best to wait for comp to start, to see what we actually got, imo.

When Tigers signed JTJ and they mentioned that they were establishing an "indigenous pathways" system I was worried it was empty virtue signalling, but by all signs, it seems a genuine change and a good one.

I remember in those dark days at the end of the Balmain years wondering why Balmain never had many big polynesian players (other than Tyran Smith and nearly Solomon Haumono). These days we are well set for islanders and good to get some indigenous in the mix.

Spot on. Need to assess who improved the starting side rather than player vs player. Arguably we improved our top 17 more, but they are still ahead of us

Not gonna lie it is pretty even. But from a franchise point of view I would probably say tigers.

Tamou: Great mentor for young forwards but also awesome forward in his own right with great experience.

Blore: What more can I say he is a beast. He will play blues. Mobile strong second rower. You gotta love it. I love him.

Laurie: Quick agile can be used for depth but I believe he will start. Great signing you have gotta love a fullback-half player eg: Jahrome Hughes

Allan Fitzgibbon: I believe one of those 3 spots left will be his instead of signing 3 players. He is a great FAST winger.

Tigers signed for future which I love. Hartigan is just a god, people might not say it now but in 3 years. Holy crap. Panthers are at the top and they want to stay there but I doubt any of those players will start.

Joe Galovao is walking around in Tigers gear too, don't forget him!
