Whats the use of developing a great young player just to let him go! We are not crazy.

As the old saying goes If he is good enough he is old enough. I expect there will be opportunity for both Liddle and Simpkin next year in what ever capacity the coach thinks is best for the team. A long way from home to not get played. With Farah working with him I think we will definitely see him in some capacity. Give him the opportunity he came for - or he will definitely become a target for other clubs and we know what happens then.

We've got a great young player and his name is Jacob Liddle. Simpkin may turn out to be as good. Who knows? But he should not be a priority over Liddle.

Do any of us really think the club does not know what its doing? I am sure Madge will work it out, if it benefits the team.

Liddle is not proven either

Never seen Simpkin play but based on his body shape and the wraps on him, I would like to him play similar minutes/role to Tom Starling at the Raiders.

Would give Liddle his shot to impress 100%. Not sure if both could be on the field at once and rotate (similar to Grant/Friend QLD) between dummy half and link man/floating lock but going forward it seems we are well served compared to Mcllwrick/Godinet era which is nice

He’s got the perfect body for a hooker and he’s very attacking minded, suited well to the new rules

Physically he's the best 9 in the comp.

Big call. Harry, B Smith, Cook, Hodgson are physically large hookers. Simpkins is a big boy but he still looks like a kid and has that soft muscle build that young kids have. He still needs to develop a tough and rugged exterior that will assist with physical contact in the top grade. Saw him play in the 1st cup game in 2020 and he was very good.

You haven't seen him without his shirt on lately have you? He's not carrying puppy fat I can tell you that.

It's the bones and joints that will be the poblem Willow - not the Arnie look.

I think if you really stop and think about it, Simpkin has a huge role to play next season.

He may have a huge role. We need two hookers. I like Liddle but there is no way he is playing 80 minutes consistently for us.

Why Farah did, Friend does, Smith does etc.

He will train all off season the same as every other hooker - why can some of them play 80 and he can't?

Would need someone to provide try assists

He is only young and it's a tough position. Grant couldn't do it for us last season. I'd like to be wrong.

Agree Trajic, but it was rusty cage post i was refering to.

I agree, I guess my point is I think Manly will need a hooker and Im not sure we can hang onto two top shelf 9s. If we could, we'd be the first. If Simpkin turns out to be as good as touted, is it even remotely possible that they both stay?

It will be very difficult to keep both but if we can ensure both receive game time and improve their games under Farah's tutelage, it demonstrates that WTs is a viable destination following on from Grant's success.

The Storm had 3 on contract and still do I believe.

Simpkin hasn't played FG yet has he? Wont we have to wait and see, in saying that reports suggest he is up for it, but may the better man win the spot. Though we still need a 9 in second grade?

Ths storm had the Cheat, B smith as a back up and Grant coming through hoping to have B Smith switch to lock. Now the cheat has gone, or seemingly so, the other two aren't altogether going to happily work in conjunction with each other as a 9. Look at the conjecture in recent months. Its still not 100% certain how things are gonna pan out.

Madge will definately know when Simpkin will be ready,he wont throw the kid into top grade without a very good preparation,he definately doesnt want him injured or lose confidence in playing his role..
If Simpkin is tough and a unit,it appears he may be able to handle some game time, when he is 80 min ready only the staff and Madge will know..
Lets not forget that you can be big tough and ready but an injury is only one play away..Dwyer,Tuiaki come to mind..

The Cheese wanting a release to play hooker. Was only a matter of time. Looks like Melbourne have gone Harry over Brando

now is the time to make our play for brandon, especially when we are being held in a positive signing light for players
