I hope Brooks tests the market

That could be bad for us, Sheens has this crazy idea he can fix him, might mean we pay more to keep him, just send him on his way already. If Brooks kicks on somewhere else, so be it, he has had 9 years to kick on here without success

I get what you are stating but why do that. If they wanted to get rid of him just let him go and pay that above market rate in next years cap.

Tbh it doesn't seem like sheens rates any of our potential halves that much

And I don't rate Sheens judgement, he had Johnny Cronk and Fitzy in the halves for extended periods, he also used Lawrence, Fulton, Farah as well, I don't trust him one bit when it comes to team selection

I think so. I think they are stating Madden isn't going to be good enough but hopefully we get a junior coming through in the next 3 years.

I think he makes good and bad decisions. The bad ones can be real bad though.

Yeah seems that way. Was hoping Newcastle might throw something too good to refuse. We need change and so does Brooks imo.

The change we need is the style of football played. This has happened and we have been unlucky not to defeat two top 4 teams.

I said that earlier in the year. If they were going to sack Madge, they should have let him move Brooks on first, because every new coach thinks they can fix him.

When Maguire started he had to decide whether to re-sign Brooks before actually coaching him in a game and he made the fatal mistake of thinking he could make him a quality 7. It seems history is going to repeat itself.

I agree. As much as I dislike the way Mitch Moses left the club, he had the desire to get better and would have improved no matter who coached him. Hastings is very similar in that way.

IMO the best halves are the footy heads that don't treat footy just as a job.

I personally think Brooks needs a new start BUT....also think he has been smothered in a game plan that didn't suit him. A change in coach could do wonders. Definitely not a guarantee. Better cattle and a trusty halves partner in Doueihi might bring out the 2018 player in him.

I would much prefer a 21yr old player with huge potential-( Madden) then Brooks , AD or Hastings if we are looking to the future. These are decent players. but do not possess the x factor required to compete against the top sides We keep buying average players, and get average results.
Considering the players we have let go i am still concerned about recruitment and retention.

If part of that restructuring is that 500k of next years deal gets paid upfront on this year's cap then it's 600k per season off the cap next year and beyond. Bulldogs. Fitness is his biggest issue but he is one heck of a talent.
Wished we hit him harder and nabbed him. Would offer impact off the bench bigtime even for 10-15min spurts.

We have been consistently in consistent all year. I'd say our best performances under both coaches have had more to do with the players available at the time due to a horror run of injuries and the lack of depth at the club to replace them.
