And I don't rate Sheens judgement, he had Johnny Cronk and Fitzy in the halves for extended periods, he also used Lawrence, Fulton, Farah as well, I don't trust him one bit when it comes to team selection

And yet with all his bad judgements and poor team selections he is still the only coach in the club’s history to get us into the finals. Strange that must just be luck on his part

I don't get these signings by the bulldogs. The word was that the NRL wouldn't register Kikau and Mahoney until they got their cap in order. So either they have offloaded Thompson on the quietor they are signing Pele and Davey on the cheap to cover if they can't fit the other 2 in.

DP it would be cool to be trained or at least be explained in detail how our salary cap works.
If Sheens could tell me what each player is on, their tenure, TPA's and how they rob Peter to pay Paul it would be awesome.
The fact is none of us know the finer details.
What I've just said seems simple to understand but I'm sure there is a lot more to it than that.
Players get so many different types of payments/allowances as well.
I personally would be a dud having a modified pass in mathematics at HSC that sometimes I have difficulty adding up my golf scorecard 🤣
Balancing the salary cap must be a nightmare!
As it stands now I believe we have enough money to sign 2 marquee forwards if they were available eg. Joseph Tapine and Angus Crichton but then we have to shore up players like AD, Laurie, Jacko, Joffa etc.... I've got a headache just contemplating the juggling act.

It'll be interesting how we go next year.

I know it's tough making the finals because there are a lot of good teams but I think we have the cattle to compete assuming we get a good run with injuries to our best players.

I personally think Brooks needs a new start BUT....also think he has been smothered in a game plan that didn't suit him. A change in coach could do wonders. Definitely not a guarantee. Better cattle and a trusty halves partner in Doueihi might bring out the 2018 player in him.

He's had 5 change of coaches now... Hes also had half a season with Adam next to him last year and that also failed. We need to start putting the blame on the player.

I agree. I see all this conversation about what gets paid when and to who and I'm confused...

Some on here thought Madge was worth sticking with. I think we can all see the change already.

I felt Madge was the right Coach all the way thru, but not now.
It's plain to see there is a different attitude in the whole Team.
I'm sure and certain he worked his guts out and did his very best to improve Our Mob, but his structured ideas just didn't click.
The level he needs to coach at is at the top level of where he is now with New Zealand or Melb. Storm etc and I wish him all the best with that 👍 🙂

Would be keen to see the breakdown of this Brooks contract. If you get him down to around 500-600k on the cap each year for the next 3 years it's fairly reasonable considering the shortage of halves currently. I could cop him in the squad at a lower salary. Not necessarily happy about it but can cop it 😂

It reminds me of Mbye, he would have been a great utility for $400k a year but we were paying him way too much.

Brooks as a squad player with several players on higher contracts is a much easier pill to swallow than his rumoured current and 2023 salary.

I think the wests tigers make there kpi quite often. Wests ashfield has one. For the wts to be self sustaining. They don't have to tip money in so everyone is happy...well except the fans because the team is poor. But we dont count unless we pay in advance(members).

The argument that Brooks as an individual isn't the soul reason we didn't make finals isn't a valid reason for another contract extension. By that logic we should have kept Mybe, Packer, Reynolds, Blair...the list goes on.

No Brooks is a better player than those you mentioned but all the blame every week every year is put on the little fellas shoulders, we need better players. Take him out of the team the last 3 or four years do we play finals? No we don't, not until our roster and coaching is improved which looks like it is getting there. I don't care if he stays or goes but the way he is treated is poor but i firmly believe with a better roster than we have had he will be fine.
