Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I was at the SCG in 1970 v Souths when the queen was introduced to both teams.
I was in the grandstand with my dad and Laurie Nichols was shadow boxing in front of us. A number of Souths supporters got up and surrounded Laurie giving it to him, then all of a sudden Balmain supporters came from everywhere and surrounded them.

I was 14 at the time and was so proud.
I was there as well with Mum and Dad , they were in the members stand and I was in the Noble stand.
My old man told me that the Queen took her seat not that far from them. At half time Liz and her entourage were taken to afternoon tea so my Mum decided to have a closer look and ended up being caught in her group.
When they reached the cordoned off afternoon tea area a green coat asked Mum what her name was and she said “ oh I’m not with her, just having a squizzy”.
That became a favourite story in the family.
She’s long gone now but still brings a smile !

Don't really know I was born jan 48 and he died in 1945 .My dad who was a real balmain diehard never told me much . I remember one day dad took me an 8 yr old kid to a balmain souffs game at Redfern oval and my dad was barracking loudly and a woman in red and green behind him was wracking him on the head with her umbrella .The crazy minor things you remember
Do you remember if she had any teeth?

Certainly. It was a wild time. I’ve been back 7 times since. Some of the long term expats there are good people but loose AF. I look forward to catching up every year or so.
Damn, I thought you were there on your frequent covert missions for the ASIO.

Stryker the spymaster, aka “ The steel ferret” or “Princess Percy” planning a parachute raid on the Solomon Islands to capture the airfield before the big Chinese bombers arrive.

I’ve done 2 business trips back but the last one was about 7 years ago. Even then, with all the progress, I thought I was in a different country.
Great town !

There seems to be 2 opinions about what's happening with our much needed recruitment
1. Tim has a lot going on in this area and he or anybody involved won't say a word until contracts are signed and sealed . Leaks are also plugged
2. Tim has had a lot of difficulty in this area with nobody available for 2023 and not much interest from top tier players on market for 2024 from Nov1
and the lack of even whispers is scary

I really hope its the former because cant see existing squad making the 8 next year without at least a couple of extra top class players
I know injury returns will help Steph,Jacko, Talau and Blore but to go from
16th to 8th with this squad will require the coaching performance of the decade

Why is it that the clubs that have the most superstars always seem to be the club most likely to land a superstar who's coming on the market .For example the roosters with teddy and their top 6 at $5.6 mill leaving less than that for the next 24 .They secure Brandon Smith and would also like to get Munster
I just don't get how the maths works ? Does all this all add up to the same cap which is about $10.3 mill in 2023 .
Dogs huge amount of signings for 2022 yet they land Kikau and probably more to come .
Sharks another one with a lot of signings
The odd thing is the original cap rorter the Storm years ago is one I trust more than most of them these days as Bellamy in last few years seems to have the extraordinary ability to take a lot of run of the mill players and turn them into stars . I think they have great ability to spot hidden talent but I think they just know who's got what it takes
The marquee rooster's player's that sign for under market value are on the politis pay roll for years after retirement, minichello isn't complaining, can't compete with that setup
