Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I'd heard he'd re-signed....
Zero tackle usually has most squads and when they're signed for

concerning that Tumeth remains in the off-contract 2022 list. I've often thought he is our most promising junior and plays a position we are seriously short in.

Proof that extending Jackson Hastings should be the first thing done - today if possible. We just dont win without him - pure and simple

Cherry picking stats is only proof that someone is trying to manipulate you.

You can have a controlling halfback that makes good decisions, calls the plays and distributes the ball, but only if they do most of the kicking. It just works better if the person who aware enough to see that the fullback is out of position or there is an opportunity to kick deep on the 3rd tackle, can actually do it in the instant that he sees it. That is the flaw with Hastings at 7, he does not have the kicking game to get the ball into the corners, drop distance bombs into the 10m zone or kick 40-20s.

Tim responds to the abysmal situation with a statement only and that statement said basically nothing
We understand fans are hurting, We must stay the course and the most telling point We are going to develop some exciting youngsters
What this says is there is very little can happen for 2023
The Nov 1 date is basically the date at which you can sign players who are contracted elsewhere for 2024 and beyond . Dylan Brown and Moses are 2 among many in this category
WHAT ABOUT NEXT YEAR ? just about everybody is contracted to a club for 2023 at this stage .Those that aren't have issues age or are out of favour for some reason .The point is all that is left for 2023 is left overs maybe Klemmer I don't know who are the ones with no contract next year but would be wary
So Tim realising the harsh reality is honing in on turning our large horde of promising youngsters into NRL stars and make some really top class signings in Nov for 2024 /5
What this means is another year of bottom 4 ladder position with a huge jump in 2024
However unless they remove the reputation deserved or not of the football dept having a stench this all won't work because come Nov when are large list of players become available none will still want to come
Furthermore when you create a Munster or a Tedesco out of our juniors the big clubs will circle like vultures
Everything hinges on creating a HARD WORKING ,HARMONIOUS and HAPPY WORKPLACE

From Sheens' statement yesterday, the club has committed more resources to Pathways and junior development and this allocation will continue to increase over the coming years. The engagement with our Macarthur and Campbelltown regions appears greater now than at anytime in the WTs' history. This is a great outcome for WTs. Note the comments from Phil Gould recently that clubs have to invest in juniors. This is our strength so why not play to it?

Sheens also made mention of the fact there has been an increased allocation to retaining our best juniors and referenced the U20s team being at the head of our Pathways. Surely this proactive approach should be acknowledged with more than the usual pitchforks.

We've seen most of our junior Qld recruits play SG Ball for the Wests Magpies whereas in the past they may have all gone to Balmain. I'm a huge Balmain supporter but I am strongly supportive of Wests Magpies and harnessing the sleeping giant that is the Macarthur and Campbelltown regions. How many young kids from areas such as Claymore may get the chance to play for Wests and WTs because the club has more resources on ground to identify and retain them? The Large brothers will play for WTs rather than the Rorters. Isn't that a great outcome?

In addition, we have the goldmine of talent in the Inner West region of Sydney. This area continues to produce new recruits for WTs.

From what reported yesterday, the WTs are proactive and are making decisions about the future direction of the club. This year was always going to be hard so results like last week will happen. It is disappointing but I am satisfied the foundations have been laid for a powerful WTs' club.

If we let Tim do his thing good things will come.

Not like we have any option anyway

It’s clear the focus is 100% on next year and beyond. Let’s just hope for once it pays off.

Dont know for sure, but I think after weve handed out the dismissal notices to those that are no longer required, and Accounting for who we decide to keep from current crop, and we add on the new increased Salary Cap.

I ESTIMATE WE COULD HAVE QUITE A BIT OF CASH LEFT IN OUR ACCOUNT, UNLESS OUR CLUB IS IN A VERY BAD FINANCIAL POSITION, BECAUSE IN REALITY WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PURCHASE 2 OR 3 REALLY BIG NAMES AND ANOTHER 2 GOOD FORWARDS, THE ONLY REASON WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO THIS,
IS BECAUSE AFFECTIVELY OUR CLUB IS NOT FINANCIALLY IN THE RIGHT POSITION.

IN OTHER WORDS WE MIGHT BE BROKE. ????
We are not broke by a long shot . There has to be players to buy, not over pay again (mbye, packer) and those willing to come here. It’s a hard sell a rebuild, appearances of a dysfunctional front office, chairman channeling Kevin Rudd vibes, and a shocking reputation with player managers, and constant bagging of us in mr Murdochs media outlets.
