Zane Musgrove

Punt the whole pack except Pole, Stefano, Brown and Joffa. The rest have got two games to prove their worth.
That effort against the Roosters was totally, totally unforgivable.

It’s not the first time we’ve done it either.
We want to keep a player whom another club is interested in. We ended up extending the deal in wage and term and then trumpet the signing. The other competing club is licking their lips then heads out later and spends the money they had reserved to purchase another better player without any competition.
I think we must get done by Managers crap talk. Who was chasing Musgrove based on his body of work?

Get rid of Kimmorley too. Sitting their in the sheds yawning in front of the tv cameras showing No interest.
Give the remaining games to the assistant coaches.

Defensive problems seem to be something we actively seek in our recruits

It might be part of the recruiting process. We know you can't tackle but we'll work on that at some point.

Better than the previous process. “We know your not naturally quick or skillful but we’ll work on that at some point.

I'm okay with Musgrove. I think he is a bench prop and he can have an impact. He has had some good games for us this season.

I think his big problem is defensively he misses tackles. That can be inexcusable if done at the wrong time. You can't carry many players like this but then again you can't carry many players like Twal who don't have an impact with the ball.
Good props do both

What has Stephane done to get a reprieve?
He has played like a soggy noodle all year.
The other three I agree have at least had a go
He's got a broken hand. If he was avail you would have to use him.

Just get rid of them. Our whole problem has been re-signing guys after 1 or 2 good games. Most of the team has has 2 years to prove that they aren't good enough. Cut the dead wood now.

I’d be hesitant.
Offers as much as Musgrove
There is a stack of Hype around Stefano. I have not seen him produce on the field. Ofcourse there is potential in that kid, Is it us who haven't developed it (probably yes) is it Stef?
I would rather keep going with Stef then Musgrove. Musgrove can get good impact but yes we lost by a cricket score. which says a lot about our defense.

Ultimately every forward underperformed this year but Garner (who actually seemed to improve, but not worried about loosing him).

For such a unit, the guy seems to be soft. No one fears him in a defence line, nothing to his play. Loose 3-5 kgs, get fit, find an attitude or find a super league club. Cessnock goannas wouldn’t take him

Musgrove off the bench for short stints only. Need to get him fired up for each game.
Reminds me an old story about a Bears prop , Lloyd Weir, giant of a man but soft unless he got angry.
So the story goes that Ross Warner, an old hardheaded Bears hooker would subtly punch Lloyd in the mouth in a scrum. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn’t.
I remember a game at North Sydney Oval one day v Tigers. I was standing near the old Moreton Bay fig tree at the northern end, very close to the dead ball line.
Bears players were in goal after Tigers scored and this female Norths supporter screamed at him@ For f..ks sake Weir, go berserk, he turned and just gave her a smile.
Yeah, reminds of Musgrove. Maybe a bit too nice at present.

The pack fails the litmus test when we kick off and the opposition goes from their tryline to our 20m zone on the 5th tackle and we conversely battle to get to halfway we are playing on the back foot . Its not happening like this on just a few sets but most of the game. We need Steph ,Joffa plus a maybe on Musgrove ,Brown as bench and Pole is the only cup graduate who might make it .Given a top class team has 6 forwards and say 3 bench that's 9 and if you take the 5 I've mentioned plus Api and Papalii we still are 2 top class forwards short of a full deck .I'm hoping our development will uncover the extra depth we will need
So I'm giving Musgrove the tick because I think once he is surrounded by other class forwards he might shine

I hope you’re right. He’s a big body, just got to use it aggressively.
