Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Do you want the spoon two years running PJ.
I think there will be plenty of room for our boys at the rate we are recruiting.
Put it this way, right now I would rate Fafita as good or better than any of our top 30.
He's over injuries and regained some top running metres. Has a good offload and is a hard nut. He's better than what people rate him as, he's a rep player.
A lot a tiger supporters don't like him because of the way things turned out the last time he was at WT.
But as I said PJ, only for a good price and only for 1 year.

Hoping somehow we avoid it this yr, 2 years in a row would be dreadful.
I just don't see what he offers. We nowhere near having a crack at the finals nxt year so blood some young guys.
If they work we keep then, if not, they can got to Eng with brooks

Been mentioned before... Gets another run in the Herald in their Ben Hunt write-up.

Veteran hooker and 300-gamer Andrew McCullough said as recently as last Sunday before the Dragons’ wild win over the Titans he was intent on seeing out the final year of his deal in 2023. A potential replacement, Tigers rake Jacob Liddle, is on the joint-venture outfit’s radar and has already met with Griffin.

We need to recruit some experience and leadership.

Poor bloke.

Kenny is only 28 he’s still got a few more years left of quality, as people said he may have a few niggling injuries that an off season will help, he’s shown enough last year and this year that when he gets the ball he can be a weapon we need out wide
Big body. With sheen as coach I see a move to the back row in his future

Mate have you watched any Sharks games? He's not a dud and can bring a lot to the table. Someone like Pole and Stefano would benefit from him being around.
Listening to Sharks players say Fafita is a great club man who puts in.

The best attribute of Martin's is his spirit. I think he's a very loyal type so it wiould be difficult to get him away from the Panthers.
Martin would be a great signing and he's always having a dig as you point out.

I think it will be far easier to snag players that have won a comp.

Once they tick that off the bucket list, I'm sure they are more open to move clubs in exchange for a good payday. Martin fits that bill, but we have plenty of competition.

On a diffent note:
For 2023, we may need to sign some one year veteran contracts to keep us competetive and alternate them with the young guys coming through as both the rookies and the vets will need a break at some stage during the season. Unless some horse trading happens over the off-season, we are realistically looking at 2024 before anyone decent comes up so we might have to think short term.

I'm not against signings like Fifita and/or Graham for 1 year on the right money until better players come onto the market.

I think the issue with veteran players is when you expect them to turn your team around based on form from 5 or 6 years ago. Like when we signed Anasta or Reynolds. Did we think they would magically recapture their form from their youth when they put on a Tigers jersey?

If we just sign them to get a job done rather than carry the team on their back, then they can be useful as wider squad members on relatively low salaries.
