Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

You make a bid like that $7 mill and what happens if still doesn't get signature ? We will be illuminating the tainted image we suffer from
.Everyone will say all that money and still no go ! Wow be careful

We are increasing our spending in our junior areas and we have just been advised that spending will increase in consecutive years. Also, we have increased our spending to retain the best of the U20s players. Everyone wants to get the pitchforks out for Pascoe but it seems the WTs are in a strong position to provide additional funding for these areas.
Well there are basically 2 ways for the club to go;
1. Buy players nobody else really wants I.e. haven’t performed, over the hill etc or
2. Develop from within .
Looks like 2 is the way we are going, let’s pray those up and comers turn out as good as we are hoping.
I think it’s called playing the long game !
Not our preferred strategy coz we’ve been playing a long game for a very long time !
But that’s the clubs decision so what can we do except continue being loyal supporters and hope it is successful.
I think there may still be a couple of short term surprises.

Sheens and Benji did a runner and left the coffee bill with Cam, more to come
Munster has been lured to Sydney by Dominic Perrottet to play Gomez in the remake of the iconic TV show ‘The Munsters - Dominic likes the idea of Munster blowing up bridges as the trains approach in a message to the union… and we thought Munster was excited to be partnering Brooks

Ya gotta be in it to win it!!!
It won't matter how good the offer is even an extra mil over the other clubs he still won't come here. I think it's a big gamble to make the offer for him to refuse and yet again make ourselves look bad and have the media breathing down our necks, not to mention Anasta is his manager and will not be recommending us in any shape or form. I think Ben Hunt is a more realistic and achievable get and the club should go after him instead.

Munster story a diversion when we really we go hard for Dylan Brown!

Andrew Fifita top 30 and brother David on T&T worthy of consideration for 1 year to help guide the development of our young middles.

No club will sign Staines so Penrith have to absorb his reported $500k and have better chance at Liam Martin & Spencer Leniu.

That's my take on a few things.

I tend to agree but Ipap and Api don’t fit into either 1 or 2.

I agree you with you I don't want the scraps of unsigned players for 2023
I agree develop from within too and that is a long game 2025/6 at earliest
But In Nov I want us to target 2 quality backs and 2 quality forwards for 2024 and beyond. There is a huge list of the games best only signed to end 2023 .
I don't want the throw all the eggs in one basket approach nothing at 1.4 mill but some really good ones in the 500k to 850 k range
Of course this won't be possible unless we have seriously addressed the toxic image that we are portrayed as having first.

I disagree. The club has increased funding and resources for development, junior districts and to retain our best U20s players. It has also committed to increasing funding each year for this purpose. This is far from just a PR stunt and are very real initiatives which resulted in the club retaining the Large brothers, bringing the young half Alex Isdale to the club.
Fair enough but I don't know if it will.

Hooper has lost all credibility with his Munster story beginning with "the way we've heard it the Tigers are talking about". Some unnamed Tiger who can't talk to Munster before November 1st told someone who told Hooper? This reeks of cash for comments with Hooper passing on Anasta's rubbish to the media without naming him as the source and getting him deregistered. From the Tigers point of view it's borderline libel.
