Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

True and I think a competent side playing near optimum is the best threat, an example would be the Cowboys.

But an early marquee or two can help out a lot in many areas.

I think a Burto would be astute signing, on the up and up with a glittering career ahead.

Madden would be crazy to smug out where is unlikely to see first grade.

Daine has to be sensible and composed. He’s on a very good wicket here and he owes us.
Did you watch Dogs game last night, Burton looked like he’d clocked off for the year, except for his bombs. A couple if times he was stationary when he received the ball and just shovelled it on.
This is despite all and sundry saying he is a good runner of the ball.
Maybe he’s waiting for CC.

Yeah it would be horrible if he was in our team haha it’s rugby league mate you need aggressive characters in the game it’s what makes it great to watch
Fracturing a mates face from a cheap shot is not aggression, its called being a c……..

Lol

No I didn’t watch it, but Ill take your word for it.

He might have an injury, playing to a strategy or simply had a bad night.

But on the balance of his career he is superb and he’s still a youngster.

Munster should dolphin I think. I sense a bit of rot setting into the Storm longer term. All “good things“ must end.

Once the guy who re signed Bellamy upped and left himself, the writing was on the wall.

Admit I don’t know the full story ,and taking it on face value, but I thought it was most disappointing cause I like to see him taking the line on and setting up supports.
I think you’ll find that Storm will find some more
money and he’ll stay in Melbourne.
Yes, the Storm are moving into a challenging period but when Pap back and if they keep Munster, plus Olam still there and Christian Welch back from injury they will still be more than competitive.

Changing the mood here is a joke for all;
A guy goes to the doctor and says I’m in a bad way, when I touch my chest it really hurts, when I touch my leg it really hurts, when I touch my head it really hurts,
Doc what’s wrong with me,
Doc says, you’ve got a broken finger.

That’s it from me today. Go Tigers.

Now latest story Dogs seriously want Munster
So the maths doesn't add
They bought AddoCarr,Burton ,Tevita Pangai, Burns Stimson
Vaughan plus Kikau, Mahoney ,Sutton and now Munster ?
We lost Mikhalae,Luciano,Kelma,Garner and add back Api and Papalii

Can all this add up to the same cap?

Weve recruited NO ONE since the coaching change
Is that because we are the "Pariah" club?

No matter what the dopey dogs do they will be subsidising more players yet again to play elsewhere for the next season or 2..The secret is to get the bargains and avoid the overpaid hacks which is something Cleary didn't have the intelligence to do as he only bought the expensive hacks (Reynolds and M'Bye)

If we pay overs what message does that send ? We've been through this situation previously. Luc is a classic example. Aoiai and Matterson are other examples. Nofo fits the bill as well.

The message from the players currently is pay the maximum salary or we go.

How do we stop that message and retain players ?

Are Melbourne taken seriously ? They lose players all the time.
Is Melbourne paying sufficient money to WT in order to keep keep Nofa for the following years?

How was Joes year last year? Average, he made origin because QLD were short and wasn’t up to it. Averaging 124 meters per game isn’t elite if he doesn’t want to stay so be it same with Douhei. I want players who want to be at the club and play for the badge and fans. Like someone previously he would have signed if he wasn’t waiting for something better from a “better” club

So guess you don’t want the club to enforce Papa to come across then? He has been clear in not wanting to be here. Api didn’t join because he wanted to be here we offered him a 3yr good priced deal which no one else offered, Panthers only offered a 1yr deal.

Like seriously there isn’t even a quality player knocking on our door saying I want to play for the Wests Tigers. You’re delusional with the statement of only wanting players who want to be here. Money is the majority factor in players staying here or like Naden because we suck & he can easily make the side.

There isn’t a small list of quality nrl players wanting to come here & it’s been that case for a very long time.

That will only change if we start winning, we are successful & open opportunities for them which requires us to have a quality & competitive squad.

Joe is hands down our best forward.
The Dolphins & Storm won’t be forking out a huge amount for him and from what the POM said what he wants was good & fair. If we are serious in building a competitive side & if what the POM said is true we are dumb for not keeping him here.

Exactly. They lose quality though. Tino is quality. They've lost JAC and Koro. Tohu Harris is a real good player. Finucane is decent.

Koro is as big a loss for us than the Tedesco. Did anyone see his tackle yesterday ? He is a freak of a player.
Even when he was with us and was very raw and had developed very little technique, the thing he always had going for him was that he had no fear, never considered his own safety, just went at it 100 miles an hour and hit hard.

How do we let guys like that go, couldn't they see the raw talent that was there?

Morons.

If he stays there. At this point I assume he is coming back. He is on our books for top dollar as well.

It's cool to do this but the point is you only get so many shots at paying top dollar.

The Bromwich brothers Kafsui all nearing the back end of the careers. But they always build around their spine. If they lose Munster then we may see Melbourne's fortunes change because he can't be replaced.
Pretty sure the same things were said about the Storm when they were set to lose Cronk, Slater and C.Smith, but look who they have now Hughes, Paps and Grant. They're great at identifying and working with future talent. We'll be like that one day hopefully 🙏.

I like to see any player take the line on these days!

I just don’t think the Storm can continue their dominance. Last couple of years, the ultimate league machine has gremlins.

Have to keep Joffa.

He is playing big minutes at the moment when we have so many that can do that job. I would put 5kg on him and play him in shorter more explosive bursts. He makes around 150m a game playing 60-70 minutes. I think he can make that same 150m in 40 minutes, therefore providing much more impact.

How much are we willing to pay ?

Sounds like Sheens wants some money to spend in 2024 also to ensure we keep all upcoming young guns..

I can't see him breaking the bank to keep Joffa and by @THE_POM 's update - he has other offers on the table. Also mentioned Joffa has knocked back our initial offer but isn't being too unreasonable with prices.

End of the day, we need some forwards. We're losing a lot and haven't made any signings (other than the re signings, Apia and maybe Papaliii)

I'm trusting the process.
Expectations are low.

Yes, I think we are a pariah but I also think Canterbury know that there's one club desperate enough to take their 'offcuts' so they can go after the likes of Munster.. That's us. If we're smart wew don't allow Canterbury to use us to help them sign the top players.

If the Doggies wanna talk, let's talk.

We'll take Kiraz, Shoupp and Declan Casey.
We'll also take Doorey, Topine and maybe Thommo if they pay half.

You're welcome Gus.
