Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

They're pretty much at the point of falling on their own swords Earl.

How ?

I'd make a list of all the decisions made in the last three years and put them into two columns - Productive Decision, Reductive Decision.
Reflection is a vital skill in moving forward. If no one within the organisation can do this, then an external consultant needs to be appointed to facilitate.
Happens in my line of work all the time - part of the process of accountability

This happens in lots of organizational practices. It's a far cry from falling on their swords or doing anything remotely constructive.

My point being that they can't do much right now and I can't see them doing much.

The only choice they have which is exactly the same choice we have is to accept the current situation.

We all have to pray that Sheens somehow gets more out of the available talent next year compared to this year. I have zero confidence in Sheens and his performance this year has been atrocious. My only hope is that Sheens has in the past done some pretty good things for footy teams and I hope he can do that again.

I'd say at a guess that Sheen's work this year is behind the scenes, not in the public forum, and all about next season and beyond.

Absolutely wasnt the case with Bellamy. He knocked us back. The deal was all but done and Terry Hill constantly spoke out in the media saying the playing group preferred Paul Langmack instead of Bellamy. He hammered his opinion to every media outlet so Bellamy said if the playing group aren’t United then i wont be coming. That is fact
TC I have heard and read numerous accounts of why Bellamy didn’t join us and have heard the Langmack story before. And yes he did knock us back.
Now all I can say is that my info, obviously incorrect according to your summary , was, let’s say in part due to the reluctance of the club ( maybe the players) to be allowed total control. And I stand by that.
That may have lead Hill to go down his path coz Bellamy was probably a tougher option for the players than Langmack.
Think we’ll have to agree to disagree partially on the fine details.
End result, Bellamy went south and the rest is history. Langmack the jibberer apart from hooking up with Carla Dye, has disappeared.
And Hill, wasn’t he, at one stage, stealing lobster pots in the Hawkesbury river and coaching Umina.
I know which way I would have voted.

He's mentioned they are planning for next year. Coaching plans and the like. Hopefully next year will be better organised
I’d say he’s probably already organised in what we wants to achieve and how he’s going to try and achieve it.
I’m sure there are still player negotiations in play, plus getting Benji and Robbie up to speed on the vision, and the areas requiring the most urgent attention.

It’s not rocket science and I think with the collective nous of this forum we could quickly create a mission statement .

He was the boss of football operations this year. We got dead last. That’s huge failure.
In the short term yes, but he may say we sorted out Madge and identified those we didn’t want ready for a concerted push over the next 5 years.
Reminds me of an old Chinese saying “ wait long, move fast”.
I’m sure from Nov 1 we will be moving fast toward 23 and beyond.

We need experience and he is still playing well in the SL. Thought process is that our kids are still 2-3 years away in this position so when he finishes contract, a junior like Feledy is ready to be upgraded.

We need the right experienced players though.

He would be 33 when the season kicks off & hasn't really played NRL for 4yrs or so by that stage.
We would be lucky to get 1-2 yrs out of him = low value return.

He is the wrong profile of an experienced player we should target.

We should be after 28-30yr olds ideally to come into the frame.

Lol I doubt that very very much.

Does anyone on here know the actual circumstances around Sheensy coming back.
Did the board , over their cheese and wine , suddenly say, let’s bring TS back.
Or did Sheens make contact with the club and say, I’m coming back to Oz, any jobs going ?
I have never really heard the story about his recruitment and would love some more details.

Cant do much about 2023 in November all the good players already signed for next year. There is a huge list of players that we could sign for 2024 in November. I find it hard to believe we haven't approached some players in last 3 months for next year before their deals were done but fear all they got was knock backs. Of course we can pick up players not wanted by their clubs next year .There is a handful of scraps but do we really want to

Pretty sure he put out an SOS after being run out of England. We signed him as a ball boy and he worked his way up.

Sheens agent contracted Lee.

Did you watch Dogs game last night, Burton looked like he’d clocked off for the year, except for his bombs. A couple if times he was stationary when he received the ball and just shovelled it on.
This is despite all and sundry saying he is a good runner of the ball.
Maybe he’s waiting for CC.
I have watched a few Doggies games this year an in my opinion they clocked off when CC was named coach I think the players liked Potters style of coaching a bit like when he got the Tigers going before Robbie's and Potter had there bust up
