Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Promising Wests Tigers halfback Jock Madden, who scored a slashing solo try in the narrow loss to the Dragons on Sunday, is set to quit the club.

The Tigers have a host of playmakers in their ranks including Luke Brooks, Adam Doueihi, Jackson Hastings and Madden and the former Australian Schoolboy believes he has a greater chance of playing first grade elsewhere.

Penrith and the Bulldogs are both believed to be interested in Madden.

The Panthers have lost their back-up half Sean O'Sullivan to the Dolphins while there are question marks over the future of Bulldogs playmaker Kyle Flanagan.

Madden has ability - he showed that with a dazzling 50-metre burst against the Dragons in which he broke the line and then beat the fullback to score.

"The Tigers just haven't given him much of a chance and we feel he will do better at another club," Madden's manager Gavin Orr told Wide World of Sports.

Tigers boss Tim Sheens said the club would be sorry to lose Madden.

"He can play and he is a good kid but we just don't have room for him in our 13," Sheens said.

"We have other players with more experience who we have committed to."

I'm sorry to see him go but it opens up a position for Kade Hill.

As for Brad Parker, I have no idea where this came from. Sheens did bring two solid Penrith centres to the club which certainly made a difference to the team.

Hmmm so no room for depth?

Stuff is coming from. Don't like

Silly season is starting. We are getting down because there are no quality players out there. That will change imo.
Players and there agents will be asking for more more money and releases and clubs may grant them because they're under cap pressure or they want to make toom for better players.
šŸ’° talks so I can expect some movement.

Things can't be pleasant in the Bulldogs' sheds when the players either side of you are receiving big $ and you are performing on a pittance.

If Jock Madden is off to Penrith as the whispers suggest. I reckon this bloke would be worth a thought as a back up half for next season. He’s been killing it for Maitland this year ... 1661812106374.jpeg

You can see that Sheens is writing off the year and has faith that if we can get all of our players on the park together for an extended period of time - including Api & Papi - we will see an improvement in results.
I'm also assuming that he has a plan of the style of football we want to play in moving forward as a club - although I'm not sure about this either as he didn't want the coaching job at all not so long ago (so we are told).
The reality is that for all of the stars to align in '23 - minimal to no injuries, a favourable draw, the rub of the green during games - the best this club would hope to achieve is 9th-12th. That's the reality.
For long suffering fans, that's not good enough. How can the board accept this?
The Board accept it because they don't care about on field results. They have allowed Pascoe to continue as CEO, that tells you the lack of care or knowledge they have of delivering a successful side.
