Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

When can we expect Ofengauhe, Hastings and Douehi to sign contract extensions ? I will feel better when they do . Was it just me or dis Joffa seem a little distracted against Dragons .He has often been our best on field and he certainly wasn't last weekend
Had two poor games in a row by his own standards he has set this year.
Usually when a player drops off like this around contract time it means…

get Brooks locked away first
then Hastings
then with what is left look at douhie and Joffa
I think of all of them douhie is the one who may move pending Munster down at storm
What ! IMO Douehi is possibly our best player when he's on hes a game breaker and the proof of that is that he is probably the one who will find it easiest to get a good contract elsewhere .. Brooks and his $1.1 mill are already locked in for 2023 are you suggesting we extend that now ? And I hope not at another million a year . Hastings is a good organiser but not a great try scorer but imo very valuable . Joffa has been our hardest worker but I see a little drop off in last few weeks . I accept Brooks is our half for next year but want to see him change his game to instinctive eyes up footy before I would extend beyond 2023.
You are right Douehi may move because he is wanted by others more than the rest. I hope not as he says he loves the club

AD has already said he won't even enter talks until after the world cup activities.

Hastings apparently from the POM will start talks this week

Re Joe if he seemed distracted he put a good mask on. He was barking orders behind the goal posts in huddles, he tried to chase Moga down, was the only forward to make over 100mtrs, played 71mins and made 30+ tackles with 1 miss. As to his contract talk I doubt he will stay, why would he if Storm are knocking on his door.

Sheens set to sign familiar face for Concord reunion

Story Via ZeroTackle

Tim Sheens looks set to make his next big signing for the struggling Wests Tigers, recruiting former Canberra coach David Furner to join the club as one of his assistants in 2023.

Furner, one of the more renowned assistant coaches in the competition, has spent the last two seasons with Canterbury and Newcastle, and now appears all but certain to reunite with the man that debuted him 30 years ago in the NSWRL.

Furner played 200 matches for the Raiders, half of which under Sheens, and last assisted the veteran coach ten years ago for the Australian Kangaroos, and now appear set to reunite at Concord.

Furner joins Benji Marshall as an assistant, the former Kiwi international set to spend the next two years as an understudy before graduating to head coach of the Wests Tigers in 2025.

The coaching trio have a massive task on their hands next season, with the club set to collect its maiden wooden spoon at the end of next round, while simultaneously ensuring marquee recruit Isaiah Papali'i doesn't backflip on his multi-million dollar contract with the club.

The Wests Tigers will face Furner's former side Canberra, who he head coached for five seasons from 2009 to 2013, on Sunday afternoon as they attempt to end their tumultuous season on a high.

Logic is out the window when you're dealing with Brooks fans.

I think @batboy is trying to say that drifting off to relive 50+ year old memories about old players is, objectively speaking, not relevant to the signings, suggestions and rumours thread. He is not saying it’s not worth it to do so…Just that it’s in the wrong filing cabinet, so to speak.

Perhaps start your own thread to discuss players of the past? There seems to be enough of you willing to discuss together.
Please note I have set up a Memories thread in a “new filing cabinet” as suggested. Thanks for the heads up.
Now the rocking chair experts will be able to indulge themselves.
Go Tigers !

I think it is a good move.
