Our Battle Grounds

That's the narrow mindedness that is holding us back. The old "well if you do it to Balmain then do it to the Magpies" mentality continually brings us down. I don't get it.
Problem is that Campbelltown is a subpar venue which doesn't get attendees when the club do play there. It's not viable as a home ground

I think with the right community work from the club we can turn around the attendance at Campbelltown. The way i see it, we have to harness the junior players and community of the biggest pool of players, and that's out west. For the record, I'm a born and bred Balmain boy who still lives in the area, but long term its suicide to not try and save our relationship with the west.

Unless they've upgraded the Old Grandstand since I was there back in the day when Michael Knight opened the new Grandstand over 20 years ago then it is still a crap venue.

The old grandstand is on the western side I’ve been going to Orana Park since the early 80’s
You must be one of those Wests Maggies supporters who stood up when the band played the Qantas theme song! prior to the Maggies vs Balmain match. Me & my mate wearing our Balmain jerseys were the only two Tigers supporters in the Old Eastern Stand. As the band played and the Maggies drop kicks stood as one during the Qantas Advertisement we heard the derision "Typical Balmain people" "No decency" "Inner Westies" I explained to those close by - It's not our National Anthem! Folks are dumb where I come frum! Westies do it naturally !

Probably would have been difficult considering the eastern grandstand wasn’t completed until 2000 and the merger had taken place. But hey, what would we know… we’re just dumb westies, however we understand geography and the concept of a compass.

So the crappy Eastern (Old) Grandstand is still crappy. Fair enough.
