2023 Expectations

Because they’re struggling to attract marquee players, the current team they have is dog and will struggle to make the 8 I don’t think Wayne can pull a miracle this big. Think about when the titans first got introduced, Scotty prince Preston Campbell mat Rogers, what have the dolphins got? Some Melbourne props at the end of their career and a cowboys bench player.
I think the important question is " will we beat them " because they are difference between 2nd last or back to back spoons

At this stage they have a better coordinated, game breaking spine then ours.
Api is the only exception.

1. hammer
6. Milford
7. O Sullivan
9/14 Nikorima/JMK

Milf and O'Sullivan are game breaking? Perhaps for their own side.
Than ours.

Put it this way O Sullivan is a more organised and intelligent ‘Halfback’ than Brooks with a far superior kicking game.

And the Milf is quicker and more elusive than Doueihi with an equally effective kicking game.

My personal thoughts is that is a better halves combination.

Realistic expectations:- Bottom 4
Exceed expectations:- Make the 8.

I think if Sheens is to be considered a success he needs to get the team to the finals sometimes in his tenure as head coach. He tanked this season so I expect some over performance soon.

I know a lot of us are putting faith in Api,Papa and hopefully some new recruits, but Im shifting my opinion slightly on that because they are great players who will work well with some of our other good players like Hastings,Douhi,KM etc...the focus on how successful we are next year will be on the COACHING...Remember we are great at sacking coaches for poor performances and Im wondering how the head honchos will react to the 3 amigos if we get flogged week in week out with big scores....
Where we finish next year will definately be on the coaching of the team and the attitude they bring on the field...just my take on it...and I definately wont cop the old its a rebuild when we have a reasonable team with Api and Papa and hopefully new players to compliment the youth and experience we have going into next year...
I agree coaching is the biggest influence on a team's performance. I have always thought that and if the team does fail next year, then I agree Tim, Benji will be held accountable. Here's hoping they can get all the players believing in themselves and playing to their potential.

The No 13 jumper in the future imo will be occupied by Chris Faagutu and/or Justin Matamua. Both are ball playing locks we've missed badly at WTs. Hastings of course fills the role at present and has done a good job. I'd also not hesitate in having Laurie in the 6 if we can land Staines. I recall Gould saying 6 was Laurie's best position.

We all have our own opinions, mine is that the dolphins spine is ass, Milford is a lost cause, nikorima shouldn’t be defending in the middle ever. Hammer could be anything and definitely has the speed and jmk has had one good season.

If Bennett can get that squad in it’s current state into the top 8 the sun will explode

In 2005 after the retirement of Scott Sattler. Sheens experimented with the player at lock all year.
Started with the defensive ball playing Liam Fulton.
Swapped out with the more consistent, experienced and robust Ben Galea.
And finished with the nippy and versatile Dean Halatal.

On that trend probably means we will see Hastings start then move back to the halves.
Joffa start the season at Prop then move back to lock.
Then Rua finally take the position all for his own.

My point is they only have to beat us. If they do that, egg will be on faces.

There is going to be lots of permutations which is ideal under the salary cap.

How tall is Rua and how many Kgs is he the same as the Cheese ?

One of the things Benji has been quite vocal about is in his comparision to the current rules/ state of the game and how similar it was to the 2005 season.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sheens and Benji try and recreate a team / style that is similar.
True just need a 5/8 ,fullback and maybe half back

You do realise that Sheens was NOT the coach this year?
