Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Madge was the coach of the Wests Tigers. The club AND Madge gave him a lifeline. I'm sick of this glorifying of Madge like we weren't absolutely terrible when he coached us. I've never seen a worse Tigers team play than his 21 and 22 teams, but yeah, long live the madge
We were most of the time. Tigers finally recruited a couple of first graders - to play under Madge, then they knifed him before he had the benefit of them in the team.

He plays where the team needs him to play.
I think he’s done enough to be at least consulted!

I’d be letting Brooksy go with all good blessings, free up some cash for the kitty.

Titans Fifita being asked to cop a $450k hair cut in the next round of talks with them.

I doubt he’s interested in staying, not that he will get what he thinks he’s worth.

Chunky, mobile, strike threat and all he needs is his head re-wired.

No doubt Sheens has had the discussion with him. I recall the comment from Hastings that he had spoken to Sheens seeking reassurance about his place in the team.

The roster at this club has got progressively worse with each coach since JT and every coach since has and will struggle until the club can recruit/ retain a crop of quality players who want to work hard, have some talent, and want to win.
Whether you supported Maguire or think Sheens is the next coming the success of any team is built on the back of the standards that are set by the squad and if most are here for a good time, think they are better than they are, or until the next best offer comes along we will be paying out coaches in ten years time and in the same position.

I take your point that whole of team team must come first, but if Hastings has strong views about his value in certain positions, we should listen with intent.

Plus he deserves an upgrade in other respects.

We could bribe him out of the halves perhaps?

But this nonsense of Brooksy turning the corner…

By 2024, Matamua and Faagutu, two outstanding prospects, will be in the frame for the 13. I have little doubt this will come into consideration by Sheens, Marshall, Farah and Furner.

As night follows day every bloody off season;

* brooks has finally found his inner half back
* brooks no longer lonely and has his confidence back
* Brooks counselling reveals a dally m in waiting.

He’s the luckiest man in the game.

I wish it was only Furner.

Sell off Brooksy and use the 350 profit to get Fifita to 800. A gamble, but I think we could do something with him.

We wouldn’t need the 3 year lead time alleged development period

He’s ready to go physically for sure. Pay and Play.

The issue is all our halves have major weaknesses, that's why we looked better when we played 3. It takes 3 guys to get the output we need to be getting from 2.

Some merit there but..

Give me a willing and competent forward pack and I’ll give you the finals.

Yr absolutely right..all of our halves have shortcomings.
But we dont need 3 of em at $600k + ,so one (or more)has to go.Plus we need more size and power at 13 than Hastings offers
Hastings is the key playmaker..a critical capability.. he can kick and he can tackle. But hes slow
Douhi can break a tackle, not a great passer of the ball, can kick, but cant reliably defend
Brooks can definitely defend, but offers very little in attack..and kicking very ordinary
So if were looking at a 6 or 7,only Hastings ticks the key boxes, slow that he may be
If were looking at a centre,,Douhi can do a job if he so chooses, but defence is a big issue
If we need a small back rower, then Brooks...yes,that doesnt work I know.Neither does he
