Management of the salary cap should be for bean keepers and not coaches. If the clubs gave him free reign over cap management then more fool them.

Des is no fool, but he wont be Treasurer either.
Operative word there is should be. Tigers gave Ivan an open book yet still deride him for what he did with it, rather than the club itself.

He's a myth. And a painful one to listen to at that. Good riddance.

Disagree, the coaches live and die by their results. A bit of oversight is OK, but completely removing them from the decision process isn't fair.
I don't mean that the coaches shouldn't be involved at all CB, just that they can get a little trigger happy when trying to recruit or maintain high profile players and it can be to the detriment of the club if it doesnt result in instant success. Ivan is a classic example.

Des Hasler come on down, please join our extended coaching staff.
More than that .. the Turbo Brothers have an exit clause should Des be sacked .. lets offer them top dollar and get the 3 Turbo boys in a package deal .. !!
No they don’t have an exit clause, they wanted one including in their latest contract but Manly wouldn’t allow it.
You can understand why Manly didn’t want a get out clause if Des left or got sacked.

A lovely dream but if we bought the three we could only afford to field a team of 9 or 10 players !

With Des fired, and Lees article warning him against litigation, it will be interesting to see what happens now.
I can’t quite get my head around Seibold, seems to be well regarded but left the Broncs on a steep slippery side.
Any opinions on him ?

Yeah it's a fine line. If you're going to have oversight on the cap I think you need someone with footy nous overseeing it at a minimum like a former coach. Can't just have an accountant telling the footy department whether a player worth X dollars.
