Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Sheens/Furner/Marshall and Farah have already made the decision. We should be grateful there are so many great footballing minds on this forum who believe they know better than this quar.some of those same football minds that drove us to the spoon recently
Not grateful at all that some of those same footballing "minds" drove us to the spoon this year...They need to re-earn cred and respect after 2022 debacle by demonstrating superior recruitment, tangible player development and improvement, and building a team culture!!
Right now, theres little evidence to support the decision making of 2 tyro coaches working with a tired coach who has been canned from his past 3 jobs(including us)..and yet another failed old mate
Sincerely hope their judgement is sound ,visional ,fact based and yet intuitive... and that ensuing outcomes demonstrate just that, but rite now thinking supporters arent oozing confidence over this bunch of "coaching mates",and need to see more than "simply trust me cause Im experienced" story wheeled out yet again..
Were all waiting with bated breath
Gould plays us of a break IMO..as do most clubs

Welsby is a class player, very tough and can play right across the backline. Has a very unorthodox playing style but he is very effective. I will let people watch and judge over the course of the WC. Maybe the only english back (aside from Dom Young) who could be successful in the NRL. The other player would be Jonny Lomax who I think would kill it in the NRL. Love watching him play.
My prediction is Gildart to go back to Wigan with either Smithes or Bateman to come over as a trade of sort to offset any transfer fee.
yeah welsby looks good. watched a few games with him. I forgot gilder even played for us. Good bargaining chip

Unless Sheens somehow gets them playing a lot better and/or quality juniors make the grade.
Aren't all these quality juniors all 16 -18 years old cant see where that impacts 2023
Re the older ones in cup or flegg . Note Matamua cost 2 games this year by not knowing the rules but I think he will be much better next year
Almost half our top 27 are completely unproven at 1st grade for example
Fianu ,Reilly , Tumeth
Also some have played a few 1st grade games but not with much success

He’ll be a Knight in 24. If they decide to keep him than they want the club to suffer. Brooks has had the cattle to lead the club I’ll admit not every year but when he, Teddy and Moses played together he could’ve led the club to finals but he hasn’t. Bloke simply does not have what it takes to be a leader he isn’t a 7 or even close to a 6. The love you guys have for him is outrageous. No other club would’ve kept him as long as we have. He’ll never be the player we need to make the 8 let alone win a premiership. He’s simply does not have what it takes to lead us. You know it doesn’t look good for him when Hastings led more in one year than Brooks has in 9 seasons.
thankfully you are not Tim sheens. Don't think he will go to Newcastle if he leaves in 2024 it will be to a other club

I think with the addition of a couple more experienced players ie. Klemmer and Bateman that 2023 can be a decent upgrade on this season. Need some luck with player health and I hope the Sheens/ Benji show can install an attitude adjustment. Not a bad looking squad when at full health. Back 5 still suspect though, particularly the centres.

I really think Bateman will disappoint a lot of people. He’s not the player he was.

Particularly if we are paying him big money over a long contract.

Brooks has been as much a victim of the rubbish this club has dealt out for years as any one. But in saying that his game has not developed to the level that was predicted/ anticipated and unless there is some significant strengthening of the squad there is nothing to suggest that next year wont be more of the same.
If he is not interested in extending his contract beyond next year - as some rumours have suggested - I don't see the value in not making it happen for next year.

Best not to engage with the Brooks posters.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Jason Bateman

David Klemmer has an offer on the table from the club worth $2.1m over 3 years, the club willing to pick-up the full tab of his $800K deal for 2023 with the remaining 2 years being $650K.

Knights have asked for Brooks in return but want the club to pick-up the $200k difference, Sheens is keen to coach Brooks & don't see this side of things eventuating.

The Staines/Peachey swap is currently at an impasse, Staines want's longer deal than offered, currently our offer is only for the 2023 season, we may go in for 2024 but not the 3 years he's after.

To address the Nanai talk, from a personal belief I see him staying at the Cowboys, but it is true that come November 1 the club will be having a red hot crack at him, this comes after Liam's Martin management informed the club that his options were either Panthers (which he'll most likely stay) or Parramatta.

Musgrove does have significant interest from the Dragons but he's told the club twice now that he doesn't want to leave & earn his place in the 17.

The hope of getting Spencer Leniu seems all but hope Jakes Simpkin has been discussed as a potential swap but he's also be discussed with Eels also for a Swap with Nathan Brown, we aren't the only club looking at Spencer & his management has been speaking to multiple clubs, Storm are well & truly in the mix here.

John Bateman talks have increased recently after Wigan became more reasonable about a potential transfer fee. Don't be surprised if start being linked to St Helens backrower Joe Batchelor, he's signed for 2023 but recently employed a Australian agent & is keen to give the NRL a crack (Sheens knows this) also young Wigan Forward Morgan Smithies has been discussed.

Expecting some noise around Hastings to be come louder publicly soon as it appears unlikely a deal won't be done prior to November 1.
There were talks with Canberra in regards to Simpkin but not sure about Panthers or Parramatta
