Cleary did it when he was 18 back in 2016 so yeah he could’ve done it. If Cleary could so could’ve Brooks. Taylor was shit no argument there but if an 18 year old Cleary could do it so could’ve Brooks at 22.

I have said it before, it is not hate, it's called insanity doing the same thing over and over hoping for a different result.
Like I tried explaining to the other bloke, just because a team pays that amount doesn't make a player worth it, was Packer worth $800k, was Reynolds worth $900k, no they weren't, but we paid it. is Fifita worth $1.1million no he isn't but the Titans paid it, Penrith over payed for RCG, Blake and Mansour, then had to pay to have them play somewhere else.
Not only have we over payed for Brooks for quite a while, we have gotten no return on that money, so why go again and hope for a different result, I thought we are supposed to be learning from our mistakes

It might just be that halves are more expensive than everyone wants them to be

Flanagan is not on $600k, and the Dogs have been trying to move him on for nearly all this year

This is exactly the same stuff that got said when we signed Tamou re leadership, attitude etc. We need players who are good now, not ones who used to be good and have magical abilities to transfer their mental skills to others.

In saying that, if we get him cheap I think Klemmer might still have something to offer as a player. I wouldn't expect him to be amazing but he might be better than some of what we've got. All indications are pointing to Bateman being finished. Classic small back rower: dynamic in their mid 20s but for goodness' sake don't end up stuck with them in their 30s.

There is no comparison between tamou and klemmer

The money we spent on Packer, Reynolds etc we did not get our moneys worth and same applies to Brooks. Regardless what we are paying him we have not been given back what we’ve invested in him.

Cleary is tracking to be the best halfback of his generation, had a two time premiership winner (and multiple more GFs) halves partner and a far superior forward pack.

Not really considering our forward pack was better during that period. Todays roster yes but back then our whole roster was better to finish in 9th despite being coached by Taylor. If Cleary could get his team finals bound by 18 Brooks could’ve done it by 22 so its not ridiculous to compare.

If the club does not re-sign Hastings to appease 2 juniors that have played 2 NRL games between them then the club is dumber than I thought.

Hastings is currently our best 7 and 13, it's beyond stupid to not try to keep the best players in their position unless they're over the hill.

In the 11 years we havnt played finals footy - which is what the aim is for every club - 8 half backs each season of varied abilities have got the job done.

Tommy Talau will be in the top 30.
Nu Brown was offered a fair 2 year deal to stay but wanted more, Club will not budge on the offer & expect him to leave.
Henry O'Kane was sitting on the fence last I heard, offer still on the table, believe he will stay.
As mentioned previously Albert Kelly has been spoken to about training with the club in the offseason, only other confirmed T&T at the moment is Brandon Mansfield.

You can't compare Brooks to those two.

Brooks has consistently been one of our best players as judged by unbiased observers who do things like the Dally M's. He has also consistently been on the park.

This is such an ignorant assumption. You can be working on your game but not be able to implement that on game day due to ability.



Twal is a tough one to judge. So are a lot of our players. If they were in a top team would they perform ?

Defensively he is great but 1/2 a props job is to belt it up and get the defense moving back and he does that poorly. Musgrove is sort of his opposite.

He reminds of B Simmons - wants to play basketball and be paid 100k , but does not want to shoot the ball??

Brooks has been nowhere near our best. Not even close mate to one of our best. The argument is we paid Packer and Reynolds big money to do a job for us and they failed the same applies to Brooks as he’s playing one of the most important positions in the game yet he can’t even play the role right. Regardless of money Brooks isn’t doing his job and if he is moved on I won’t lose sleep over it he’s had his time to shine but yet he hasn’t. We’ve changed a lot of things but kept this guy some say it was out of loyalty yet no one else wanted him. Only reason Knights want him is because they don’t have any halves not because they think Brooks is good.
