He was clearly injured but also our best metre eater. Would be a loss.Would have thought Sheens would have had a hard on for Chronic Ken, he's the closest thing we've had to TNT.

We are very good at releasing bad players and very bad at signing good players. Comprende.So if Brooks signs elsewhere for 2024 its better to release him now ? I can't come up with 17 quality experienced 1st graders out of our fast diminishing roster . Take out Brooks ,Musgrove , and say Peachy , Gildardt and Maumalo and what are we down to ?
Note Douehi and Hastings only signed for 2023 like Brooks so what if they sign elsewhere for 2024 in November do we release them too ?
I must admit if we have to pick up zero of Brooks $1mill+ for 2023 that's a big plus .Surely we don't say to Newcastle of course you can have him for next year and we'll pay a part of his wages .?
Please don't fill up our roster with reserve grade players or Juniors that are aren't ready for NRL yet
So many going !!! we seem to haveI think he wants out and don’t blame him. If he was playing the club for more money, punt him.
Peter Sterling once said, you don’t release a player unless you have a solid replacement. Obviously he never met our man Pascoe. All he does is catch and release. And they’re all shit fish.So many going !!! we seem to have
Those that have already left
Those who are going if they get a release
Those who can't finalise what they are doing in 2024 till Nov
I'm sure many want to play in a competitive top 8 side
We of course can get all the older ones who can't get contract extensions where they are or can only get one year due to age or form .
Would be nice, but highly doubt itMaybe its a Brooks and Ken swap for Klemmer and Young?

A Halfback being a pest is quiet commonI think Albert is a bit of a pest on the drink.
The 7 year plan is coming together nicely. Release average first graders and replace them with journeymen and kids.
Klemmer would be a good signing, but we need some other proven players
More like his manager agitating to get a release. Newcastle wanted him last year they certainly want him up there as soon as possible.Brooks has done the right thing by the club in letting them know he is intending to sign with Newcastle a couple of weeks prior to November 1st.
Happy enough if he and the club come to an agreement prior, but the most important thing is it is opening up opportunities for the club to plan in the coming fortnight if separating.
Whether Sheens or anyone else is overseas or not, isn't really relevant in this day and age.
We should win if he is playing with the opposition.Have no problem letting Brooks go a year early but only if we do not offer any cash subsidy as part of the deal. If Newcastle want him in '23, they can pay his full contract entitlement or wait another year to get him up there. Sick of paying guys to play against us.
I tip right here, right now that Obrian will be the first coach sacked in 2024 at the halfway mark of the competition. 🤣pressure at Newcastle will be immense
Sorry ...is Brooks leaving ....Exactly. It's a classy move by Brooks giving the club such notice. The way he holds himself amidst the constant media attention is remarkable.
It will be very interesting to see what direction we go in now. Personally I would commit to Hastings at 7 and play a bigger pack, but I don't see Sheens doing that. I think he will still play Hastings at lock and use 2 5/8's in Doueihi and Laurie. Sheens loves the idea of changing the game and this will be his attempt at it.
I hope this doesn't happen. We need Papali'i and Api.I hope so…..all the players he signed…… starting with Ken M
It looked pretty clear he made his mind up for 2024 in that interview he did in the middle of the season IMO.Sounds like Brooks has made his mind up and wants to leave given he provided notice with Sheens away. We better go hard in the player market for at least 24 because right now we don't really have much left in the tank at the club. Brooks is better than the Kelly alternative.
If Sheens wants Hastings at lock like POM said it will be interesting if this either sees a clear shift of Hastings to Halfback or if we see a Laurie and AD lineup in the halves with Staines at fullback (if the Peach/Staines activity happens). Outside of that we really don't have many options aside from maybe chasing Nathan Brown who can ball play somewhat as our depth in the halves is terrible.
Sounds like we are in a hedging our bets waiting game across the market atm.
Interesting....
Liddle -> Api
Musgrove -> Klemmer (based off POMs update)
Lucy -> Papa
Would say we are infront.
Brooks if he is released will be the hard one as can't see any club releasing a NRL quality half/58th a season early outside of us especially as the cap has increased a heap for next season. People want him gone but we don't have anyone better + we are competing with the Knights positional wise on the ladder next year. Would be dumb for us to release him a year early without some distinct benefit. Albert Kelly isn't the answer.
