Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We can’t have locked him up. We can’t offer him a formal contract until 1 November. Perhaps we have agreed to terms? Hopefully. He is my number 1 option for us to sign come 1 November (but I want him for 2023).
Wonder if this is true mate, my number 1 option also ! 🤞

I used to love watching Luke when he was on fire but it's time to try something else. You can't drive a car that's missing a front wheel, it just goes in circles and gets nowhere.
Yes I agree totally. Good idea to change the steering wheel cause it’s not going anywhere. But may I suggest you have no chance if the engine is missing. Fix the motor first. I am not NRMA. But there is a good chance that will well and truly help.

Where did this nonsense of Sheens wanting two fast halves come from? This is a coach who for must of his tenure had John Morris and Rob Lui at halfback. Neither were fast. Moltzen may have played a handful of games at 7, but mostly at fullback.

The fact is a combo of Laurie, Doueihi and Hastings is awful. Atrocious. Who does the kicking? None of them have a long kicking game, none of them have much of a passing game, two are incredibly slow. There's just no way in hell that that will ever be our halves combo.

If we did let Brooks go we'd have almost an extra million to spend on top of our already sizeable war chest. We would definitely sign a halfback of some description. Maybe a Williams type. Or at the very least we'd sign one of the hottest young halves around as we could offer them money and playing time. Someone like Pezet seems a very likely option. He's a classic halfback with an excellent kicking game stuck behind rep players on long term contracts. I'd take him over Sullivan. Kelly on a train and trial playing NSW Cup is then a solid backup from outside the top 30, should things get desperate and at worst would be a decent addition for the Maggies.
Though I have no issue with Brooks leaving. But the figures you have tabled not accurate unless you are working for Wests Tigers as the Accountant. In reality Brooks costs less than one may think, that’s why there is those in the camp that would like to keep him. In losing him and replacing him with a proven good halfback would cost the club in terms of salary cap say $300-$500k. Which is also ok if the buying is good. Otherwise have lost that capacity to attract a mongrel forward or that we really need. But all the besides the point.

Word is it’s a done deal and I am assuming it’s for 2024 (I didn’t ask).

He has been off the mark before but works in footy and generally gets good oil.great news and hopefully the mail in correct. Then bring him forward to 2023. Then even I would be looking good at 7. Ok maybe not.

Remember our last decent 7 ?
Robert Lui....

He wasn't overly fast either.
Just controlled the game and iced some kicks.

Allowed Benji to create with flashiness from 6

That'll be 7 AD x 6 DL

Makes too much sense.
I think your underplaying Lui's speed. He was very quick off the mark which allowed him to get through the first line of defence. He was a top notch half. What we are really lacking can be seen in all its glory at around the 1'50" mark of this video.

I remember clearly.

I also remember everyone claiming he was a 6 not a 7
