Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

He had already signed with Melbourne by the time he debuted, in round 5 I think it was.
We wanted him to stay, he treated the club like crap.

Facts...

He was a troubled kid before he got a run with us that had been moved on from Souths and let go by the Sharks....
Even then, The diehard Sharks didn't know much about him...

I've always been of the opinion that if Addo Carr didn't go to the Storm system - And Craig Bellamy, He wouldn't be what he is today - Out of Sydney and in a good System was what he needed.

I saw his last game for us in Reserves, It was nothing to brag about - You wouldn't have come out of it assuming he'd be an origin and kangaroos mainstay. No one else there thought he was a big loss... He had speed, But would get ragdolled a bit and had questionable hands.

I love the Fox, Glad to have seen him kick on....

Still remember him having a not so great night against us at LO and Bellamy making him run laps on his own after the game.... I think they still won though?

We have no young outside backs realistically pushing for first grade next year. Do you still at least a year away. If Young does join then one of Nof or maumolo will leave.

That is a massive upgrade for us and I reckon Nofo and Ken both offer a lot. I can't see it happening. I also don't know why we'd be shopping Ken. Sure he is slow and he does get caught out sometimes. He also scores tries via kicks and his extender arms. Plus he regularly gets big metres for us and busts the line.

You might have hit the nail on the head for next season but why would they make a play for the following 2 seasons and not want him next year.

You'd think (and I know you love Brooks) that the club would let him go at full freight if he has signed elsewhere for the following 2 seasons.
I don't think they will as they have nobody they believe can play 7.
I know many on here including me think Hastings can play 7 but don't think Sheens wants Hastings to play 7. If Sheens did then Brooks would be gone if in fact he is signing in 2024 with Newcastle.
We have no Madden and with Hastings playing 13 Sheens will keep Brooks for 2023 and likely sit down and see what type of Arthur Ash he is looking for in 2024 and beyond. If a deal can be worked out he may well stay beyond 2023.
I have a feeling Sheens will push hard for Moses to come to club in 2024 and if Hastings is happy to play 13 we may well see
13. Hastings
7. Moses
6 Brooks

You are correct right now but I hope the club does a deal. I don't see the upside for us of retaining him for one more season.

Just to add we now probably win the comp next year of the back of Brooks killing it.

They won’t bring back Moses to put him back with Brooks the result will still be the same as it was years ago even with them wearing different numbers. If we somehow land Moses he probably would partner with Doueihi I won’t be surprised if he’s trying to lure him back while he’s over there playing with him in the WC.

Moses and Brooks same manager, wait and see I guess

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he recommits on a refined 3 year deal
They shouldn’t offer him anything until he shows that he is going to lift and get to the level that is needed from him. If he does then maybe they could offer something but as of this stage he’s done nothing worth of an extension.

key difference Hastings plays 13 and you have two genuine running 6's in Brooks and Moses

plenty thought he would be released last week when the read rumour started, don't think that will happen. If Sheens was not keen on Brooks he probably would be released for 2023 already

if they sign Garrick does that take some of there cash ?
Yes, but even so there would still be enough for Brooks. Especially if Klemmer is leaving that’s money gone from their cap. Apart from Ponga hardly anyone at the Knights would be on massive money if they have managed their cap good.

You think Moses is a 6?

He's certainly not afraid to tell people what to do (Or what he thinks)

You watch them though, Moses isn't particularly vocal in play
- A lot of their talk comes from Gutho...

He doesn't have to talk a lot I feel, They're pretty much quality across the park and everyone knows what they need to do... Well coached.
