Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Laurie played well toward the end of last season. Once Madge left it was obvious that he was being told to support up the middle and we looked sharper when he was doing it. We could have been successful with this play too if our forwards had an offload in them.

Part of me wants Hastings to stay. The other part just thinks its more of the same. I never want guys to leave that want to be here and he is someone that always has a go.

I think AD will stay. He has versatility and can cover most spots in the backline bar wing.

If we lose all 3 and Moses says no....what happens then?

We have filled a lot of top 30 places with kids. Reminds me of when we got Ben Murdock M to re-sign by promising him a first grade debut, which happened to be in a semi final. Sheens will take the time to invest in the Juniors and they will respond to him because of it.
I think Laurie lift in form came around the very first talk of Staines to us in the media.

Another explanation is roster management. We have good players emerging who could fill the 13 position. It's more believable than being moved on for being a fully paid-up member of Le Club Madge
There is no valid explanation for Hastings being the player that is "managed" out the door based on the performance of the squad last year. He is one of the very few that lifted the performancd of the squad.

I'll preface by writing this is based off that social media post.

We have Hastings for 2023 and by 2024 Matamua and possibly Faagutu may be ready to play NRL. Both are exceptional talents. Other NRL clubs will be looking at Hastings and we have 13 well-covered.

Just reading DT post that there is Wigan “history” between Hastings and Bateman which, if we do sign Bateman, may potentially have repercussions with re signing Hastings.

Just when we thought it was safe to go back in the water, another potential shark attack!

I saw that headline, wondered about that story. Can you post it?

From what I saw from what was the sh!tshow of season 2022. I’d be playing Hastings at 7 In 2023. However, With the new players that are already signed and the ones we are linked to. Along with the new coaching staff, I can’t see the team structure being anything like 2023.
The link between the 9, 13 & halves is so important in defining the structure the team play.

Hastings, Brooks, AD, all nice guys, but all are not showing the form needed to play in the halves.
This is a professional game, and to go forward you must constantly improve the roster. Nice guys don't win games, talented guys do, We may have to keep all three, owing to the lack of talent on the market, but unless there's massive improvement ( they are not kids anymore) they will be shown the door.

I think the one your looking for is back on page 7489...

Maybe Sheens think Jacko is a ball hog and he wants more ball movement....

It was mentioned he wants more attacking, go forward game play....

Perhaps an offloading 13 that plays a basic game and doesn't think they're in charge...

Ala Fulton, Heinington.....

He's improved his image with the public but still has a stink in the locker room it seems.

He talks the talk on camera eh...
I think he's alright.

Seems to be something going on behind the scenes.

Our 2022 spine is all free to talk and we don't appear to be in any hurry to care....

Now we got some interesting reports of;

- AD parts ways with manager
- Jacko will not be offered a contract at all

... sus.

Maybe the club do have genuine confidence they can get Moses or Brown done???

Shifty Sheens and Sus Benji could be onto something

Also don’t think it’s fair for anyone to just think it’s cause of Jacko’s personality or his presence around the club - poor kid just can’t seem to shake his demons and everyone just relates back to that

I know a few people who work within the club (not from a source perspective) and they all say how much of a gentleman and respectful dude Jacko is.... if he isn’t offered a deal it’s probably bc Sheens just doesn’t see him as the 7 to lead this team in the future nothing personal related and really don’t think it’s fair for us “supporters” to continue to tie him back to that with no real substance

Haven't been in the right place to catch most stuff this week, so what's the go with this please?
Hey Bra, I saw your post.
Hope you're doing well mate.

No words for that situation but don't forget you got a community of people here to talk to if you ever need it.

Basically, the west's life podcast made the statement.
Unsure of the truth behind it.
