Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Its really the only club that’s willing to take him. Andrew Johns believes he can make him the player he was supposed to be. If Knights had a half, they wouldn’t be interested.

Immortal Joey Johns has been away from the game for 13 years - name one Halfback that he mentored to the highest level since then? Certainly no one at Newcastle. Brooks was mostly 5/8 at Junior rep level & played centre off the bench in the 2015 Indig All-stars game in the first half & then 5/8 in the 2nd half when Foran came off.

I highly doubt Johns will get Brooks up to that level if he does go to Knights.

...from losing WTs teams 5-10 years ago when these players were at their peak!Woods and Brown barely NRL standard these days,as evidenced by bench warming their respective teams recently who are quite willing to release them
Throw in Frizell and Bateman and we'll have a "dads army" forward pack matched only by the Dolphins, whom we'll undoubtedly be wrestling with for the spoon!
In the meantime management distracts itself with attention seeking headlines making ridiculous offers to Munster and Moses who were never gonna come here..and punting our best leader in Hastings !
Feels a bit like Benjis hail Mary passes to the 8th row...all or nothing..usually ending up the latter
Unless Sheens has UK offerings, were going backwards from 16th!

Sheens is waiting for Newcastle to approach him re: Brooks, Newcastle are waiting for the Tigers to release him.....sounds like a Mexican standoff......
I'd say it's because of the size of his contract, assuming the thought would be the more it looks like we need him the more the Knights are willing to chip in to take him.

If it was needed to land Klemmer's signature, I would be ok with Woods on a 1 year deal only.

The reason being that there is unlikely to be many other big names come available for 2023 than what you already see/hear rumoured and Woods signing wouldn't impact 2024 recruitment. Klemmer is a massive upgrade and I reckon we need to do what we can to land him (even if it means bringing Woods back for a year).

Add in Bateman to round out the 30 man squad and I would be happy that we made excellent moves heading into 2023! Bateman plays a style of footy that I reckon will suit Sheens and would be ideal for the next 2 seasons while some of young 2nd rowers find their feet moving towards the NRL.

I understand this means we won't have a spot open in our 30 man roster when the season begins, but realistically we always end up waiting for the deadline and filling with development players or train and trialists anyway.
Would be nice off signing Sharon for 2 year meant landing klemmer for 2023 and Spencer for 2024

I think you've summed up the situation well.

No one really knows what's going on with recruitment.

The inns and outs has been good and think your overall assessment is based on having a hissey fit over Hastings.

Hey all... I don’t have time to read through all the waffle…

Can someone please summarise all the confirmed signings since Nov 1 ( Christmas Day for the fans apparently ..)

Many thanks

No way signing Sharon for 2 years is a good deal. It’s not even good giving him a deal at all, but if he does get a deal it’ll be 1 year only. While I agree getting Leniu for 24 would be good, think he’s keen on staying at Panthers.

I can’t believe no one wants to join us. We are the ultimate boys club.

Crap, past it, no relative experience, unemployed for a decade? It doesn’t matter, if you are part of the boys club there is always a job for you here.
