Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

its an agreement brokered outside the club that is like a sponsorship of a player. ie Cronk had one worth about $300K. its outside the cap. so woods could be on minimum in the cap and on that plus $XYZ third party deal. If we had a cash office to reimburse receipts we would be doing even better. If we used third party deals on players we would be even better off....

The roosters use it on Cronk. We use it on Woods.

Sheens is waiting for Newcastle to approach him re: Brooks, Newcastle are waiting for the Tigers to release him.....sounds like a Mexican standoff......
Lol, Newcastle would have to ask and negotiate the terms of a release. If there serious about signing him they won't just be sitting around waiting and hoping, they'd be forcing it

I think I was just confused by Earls verbiage. I know what a TPA is.

Putting aside the creative content, I reckon Wood’s walked out on Jason Taylor not the Tigers. Same with Teddy. The club was all over the shop at the time and has never really recovered. JT’s tenure as coach was an abject disaster in terms of player retention and club culture.

At last ,someone realises the state this club was in, it was poorly run, Toxic , shambles, and has been a disgrace. Our best players left except Brooks , who probably will regret for the rest of his life. We can only hope Sheens can lift our team out of the ashes

Going through our Train & Trialists, Development Squad, SG Ball & Harold Matts summer squads, our club has done an amazing job of retaining & progressing our pathways talent. Out of 80+ players, it looks like our only 'significant' departures aged 21 or under are:

- Henry O'Kane (this isn't confirmed, only he hasn't been named in any squad yet)
- Alekolasimi Jones from the CUBS, training with Bulldogs
- Patrick Young who Sheens liked & NSW Rugby Union U18 squad member, training with Bulldogs
- Oscar Jorgensen, NSW Rugby Union U18 squad member, to rugby union
- Thomas Fisher, training with Bulldogs

Very much looking forward to our Jersey Flegg squad & NSW Cup additions to be announced in the coming weeks. Hoping the following are still with us ...

Jimmy Ngutlik, Liam Scolari (@balmain boy has said he is a T&T until Xmas), Dudley Dotoi, Cathane Hill, Herman Tofaeono, Mikey Tannous, Cayne Nicholas, Finnley Neilsen, James Valevatu.
An update on Scolari for you. Spoke to his mum today. He's starting pre season training with the NSW Cup boys on Monday. He actually re-injured his knee a few months back, he came back in for a check-up with our medical team and the physio had him doing some jumping and he re-injured the same knee...

So the club is now going to ease him into preseason. Rather then training with the NRL squad (which is super intense and competitive at this time of the year) they're going to give him to Lambkin who rates him highly to ease him back to fitness. And then re-assess things as he progresses and potentially look to bring him back in with the NRL boys during the season.

But wasn't Sheens the start of the rot ....the coach that lead the premiership co favourites to 9th spot in 2012 ..and then got rolled over by his now assistant coaches .....

This is one of the big reasons not to sign Woods.

1. It's a waste of a contract spot.
2. Some rich dude is prepared to chuck in money to get Woods. This money should be used to get a much better player. This is the 3rd party contract.
What if the rich dude won't chuck in for anyone else other than Woods though? Although I don't disagree with point 1.

"Who is your source!?"
"His mum."

I like that kind of information.

Sorry BB don't want to hijack your post ...but this is the exact thing I guess just drives me to despair with this club ...so we don't go get scans on Scolari ....just get him to do some exercises and he reinjures his knee ......

Reminds me of the Sharks game at Browne Park in Rocky .....Douehi has a possible/probable ruptured ACL ...hobbles all the way down to the Fox team to do a post match interview and then hobbles all the way back to the dressing rooms probably a round hobble of 150 metres ...where is our medical team ..... if they want him to still do the interview organizing the golf cart to at least take him down and back ....or even smarter ..get someone fit to do it ..Brooks from memory had the C beside his name that day ..again apologies Balmain Boy ..thank you for the update

The entire medical/rehab team has been almost completely revamped and changed for 2023.

Probably for reasons such as these.

Pete Moussa is back at the club and is in charge again.

Sheens in winning our grand final, did it with a new style of football, which changed the game, as many wrote about at that time.-- We were rank outsiders that year.
The great Jack Gibson said something to the effect, THAT IT ALL STARTS AT THE FRONT OFF OFFICE.
Basically , the people who run the football department admin are duds.

You answered your own question, Happy.
Brooks had the ‘C’ beside his name… they needed to speak to someone who could construct a sentence.
