We won't make the finals next year so how will he improve this team going forward since he won't be in it?

I'd prefer to look into our side for a utility. Not outside. Peachy and Moses have already proven the lack of success we've had in that area.

We don't want to come last, and Brooks ,Hastings, and AD ,all off contract for 2024. along with short contracts that end ,we will have $$$$$$ and plenty of space. None of these contracts are long term.

Neither is Hastings. Brooks is gone in 2024.

perhaps because Sheens wants Brooks, I don't see Sheens advocating to play Hastings at 7 ???
if Hastings doesn't get 7 in 2023 which doesn't look very likely don't think he will stick around in 2024 either

Got 1 out of 2 so far. Let’s see what happens with Dajaern Asi.

A couple of players who may should be considered as 'squad depth' if Brooks does move on and Jake Simpkin also moves on as some have rumoured are Dajaern Asi & Will Smith.

Smith would be good in NSW Cup for his experience and leadership & can be a backup hooker, halfback & fullback.

Asi has previously been on our radar and, interestingly, finished the Qld Cup playing the last 7 games at halfback for the Mackay Cutters.

I think Sheens is just foxing to get a good deal from Newcastle, but you might be right. As we know, Sheens did think John Morris would be our "Cooper Cronk" and signed Braith Anasta to play 7.

if Hastings doesn't want to play 13 then he may as well go, 2023 likely LB and AD in the halves may as well get klemmer if Newcastle are up for that.
*You* may not like it but Sheens probably sees Brooks in the halves for 2023 and won't release him early
