Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I've not seen any evidence of much strength at all....
On either side of the ball.
If he was as Strong as "it gets" you'd see it in his game somewhere...

That could be a club thing - Interesting to hear Woods say that when he went to the Sharks he was surprised to see how far below the NRL benchmark (Shared between every club)
he was in the Weights Room (No one had ever told him apparently) And how it was effecting his injuries and overall game.

Combine that with the bleating obvious and Sheens confirming we weren't fit enough....

If anyone is honest with themselves, And we get Klemmer
- There just isn't a spot in a fully fit 17 for Twal.
Ofahengaue edges him out for mine - Very similar players, But Joe beats him past the posts, And I can't leave out Stefano, Klem or Pole.

Alex isn't going to all of a sudden do something now he's never done...
Usually at his age when props come on, Is because they develop all the things Alex has always had.
Work Ethic, Maturity, Stamina etc...
I don't care how good Sheens record may be - He's not turning A Twal into B Clyde.
Could not agree more, so now how does Brooks suddenly become able to do things he has never had any idea about before when Alex can't

As I understand it .
Weve recruited no stars in last 12 months now we are going to let Hastings go and keep Brooks ? .Seems to me more of the same over and over .
We can do the odd player swap . We can sign some at back end of their career who can't get a contract extension where they are ! We can upgrade promising juniors who are still too young for Nrl and sign the odd one from Rugby
2023 expectations ? We do same thing over and over and expect a different result ? There's a word for that

I'm good with whatever decision is made but I'm extremely surprised that Brooks isn't going. I think Newcastle may do well with Hastings or Brooks next season.

I actually think Brooks compliments the Knights better than Hastings especially with Ponga in the halves. Brooks personality is a follow orders style who would mould into the team which in their team dynamics & personalities forming could be important.

Hastings is a controlling half but not a creative one. 63 NRL games, 3 tries & 22 try assists just wouldn't work in the Sheens/Benji game play. That's why it was lock or nothing for him here.

It wouldn't surprise me if O'Brien, Gamble, Elliot, Hetherington, Hastings and few others clash during the year. It's big reason Klemmer is leaving is the team/coach dynamics. Knights have some hot heads who aren't afraid to clash with team mates so the dynamics could be very interesting.

Motley crew

What's left out of the Hastings/Klemmer swap is Clune who I understand we are angling for if either Hastings or Brooks heads to Newcastle

Clune is interesting one, has some ability but also thought he was alot younger - he is 28 next season.

People wonder why Shonky keeps on getting the bullet from clubs he goes to,i don't i just wonder how he finds clubs stupid enough to sign him.
In walks WT brains trust.
Ive seen nothing so far that doesnt indicate Sheens passed his use by date about a decade ago..maybe more
Astonished by his firing of Madge without a replacement, then have it all play out in the media with Ciraldo...cldnt imagine the better clubs doing that.Actually, cldnt inagine ANY clubs being so naive tbh
Then totally gobsmacked by his release of key players mid season, which destined WTs to the spoon..kick the brand to the kerb to .to simply save a few sheckles...???
Now the release of one of the few with commitment in Hastings, and worse the retention of Brooks...
Dunno...without some surprise signings from UK(and not Bateman, also in the use by category),I just think were doomed for another half decade with Sheens in charge.
Have no confidence in his decision making

With Klemmer on his way and potentially Bateman we can afford to play a young gun in the pack like Matamua now. There is plenty of experience to drip feed our youth into the squad.

It's going to be hard fitting them all in. I've never been convinced Hastings at 13 will work especially over the course of the season.
