Sadly a lot of PNG players struggle with the lifestyle and social isolation in Australia. It's important that the club makes these guys feel comfortable, otherwise we won't be able to see them fulfil their potentials.

Agreed. Australia is a big adjustment from PNG. Until you have experienced life in PNG, it is difficult for Australians to comprehend the difficulty in transition. Jimmy is also from New Britain. Well done to him for being here and winning a new contract.
surely we have a few houses or a block of flats with a so called Mother Duck types in charge of the out of towners /im no expert but Pacific Islanders are very family orientated and daylight is 2nd.some info on this side of things much appreciated.WT2K,King Robbie?

This is near a good first grade side. I like that idea of swapping in Laurie to 5/8, I reckon Benji can coach a great 5/8 out of Laurie although worried about Brooks.
We still have Stefano on the bench somewhere with this side? Staines + Naden is awesome. Clearly the future is lying with Penrith players and that's the only flaw I see in this strategy... (The dogs will become a second Penrith team).
Doubt Laurie's even at the club when Benji takes over head coach....
He’s 22 next year played at Mackay cutters this year and didn’t even get a look into their q cup team and their q cup team was made up of half locals and lads and they didn’t make finals, he’s no chance barring massive injuries

Don’t know if we’ve got anything like this in place at the moment, haven’t heard about it if we do.
Clubs do have to be very careful about the people they place young players with too, have spoken to a current NRL player (not with us) about being treated really poorly by a family they got placed with when they were only 16-17 moving to Australia for the first time.

Sounds like a smart deal, but the details are wrong, he never played FleggWESTS Tigers are closing in on signing Papua New Guinea Kumuls winger Jimmy Ngutlik on a train-and-trial deal for the 2023 National Rugby League (NRL) season.
Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe told The National yesterday that the 22-year-old would be available for selection for coach Tim Sheen’s first grade side during the mid-season.
Ngutlik, from Bitabaur village in East New Britain, previously joined the Tigers pathway programme in 2021 and played for their Jersey Flegg Cup (Under-20) side throughout the season.
The speedster was promoted to the feeder side Western Suburbs Magpies in the New South Wales’ Ron Massey Cup and New South Wales Cup competitions early this year.
However, now with the new train-and-trial deal, Ngutlik would be available for NRL side’s selection as early as round 10 in 2023.
Pascoe said Ngutlik’s form at Rugby League World Cup was what encouraged the Tigers to promote him.
“Jimmy is close to signing a new train-and-trial contract with Wests Tigers,” Pascoe said.
“He did well at the Rugby League World Cup with the PNG Kumuls and that will surely help in his continued development as a player.
“We look forward to Jimmy’s continued progress, hard work and persistence.
“Jimmy will be a part of our extended squad through the summer and beyond and will be available for selection when the new season commences next year,” said the Tiger chief executive.
Pascoe said the club was in talks with Ngutlik last week regarding the new contract. Ngutlik made his international debut for PNG at the World Cup game against Cook Islands.
Ngutlik had his best game against Wales in the final group match where he scored a double. He also scored the Kumuls’ only try in the 6-48 loss to England in the quarterfinal.

Yes true Ink, I just think Brown may be past his best now. He had a great season with Parramatta a couple of years ago, but hasn’t been seen much since.
Klemmer and Bateman are definitely loose canons, so we dont need another one. We struggle with the refs as it is and always play off the back foot because of it. Mind you we don’t actually have Bateman yet anyway, so my concerns may all be moot 😂

I know when Rob Lui was with us he was living with a lady in Drummoyne ( i think) along with another young bloke. So we did do it back then im not sure if we do now but im sure there are some sort of arrangements for the younger kids from out of town.
